KCW Student Shines in PU in BSc 1 Examination

Proving their mettle once again, students of KCW, Civil Lines, Ludhiana
aced the examination of B.Sc. (Semester I), conducted by Panjab
University, Chandigarh. Satya Aggarwal bagged third position in Panjab
University, second in the district and stood first in college by securing
92% marks. She has also scored 100% marks in Mathematics.
Husanpreet Kaur stood second in college by scoring 87% marks.
Simarnjot Kaur stood third in college by scoring 86.1% marks. Purvi
Sodhi has secured 99% marks in Mathematics. Success of students like
them also inspire the other students to achieve the higher standard of
academic. Position holders gave the credit of their success to regular
studies and efforts put by them and the teachers. Management
committee congratulated Principal, staff & students for their
commendable success and maintaining the legacy of the college.
Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur wished them good luck for their future.

Martyrdom Day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh observed at Khalsa College For Women

The Punjabi, History and Physical Education Departments of the Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized various activities to commemorate the Shaheed Diwas of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Mrs. Anush Priya Benipal, grand daughter of the brother of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and daughter of Abhay Singh was the guest of Honor. The guests were extended a floral welcome by Dr. Iqbal Kaur on their arrival. The event kick started with the lamp lighting ceremony.

While addressing the youngsters Mrs. Benipal said Bhagat Singh will remain an inspiration for the youngsters of the today and the generations to come. She further shared anecdotes from his life behind the bars and apprised the students about his ideology that was against social inequalities. She motivated the youngsters to think themselves to be a part of Bhagat Singh’s Family and urged them to take inspiration from his life and work towards building a prosperous nation.

An extension lecture was organised by the Department of History. Dr. Meera Nagpal, Assistant Professor, Panjab University, Regional Campus, Ludhiana was the speaker of the day. She deliberated on ‘ S. Bhagat Singh and the Revolutionary Trend’.  Dr. Nagpal expressed her views upon the inspirational and legendary life of the freedom fighter. She took the youngsters on a journey of freedom struggle and shared the events of freedom struggle chronologically while emphasizing the role and contribution of the revolutionary Shaheed Bhagat Singh. She stated that his contribution to the freedom struggle is beyond measure and the youngsters must take pride and uphold his legacy. She further said that martyrdom of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, was a turning point in the Indian freedom struggle and  inspired many young individuals to join the freedom struggle.

The Department of Punjabi organized a skit titled  ‘ Bhagat Singh Zinda Hai’. The students performed while spreading a message on the values of patriotism, courage and valour. The skit also presents a satire on the contemporary political scenario while highlighting the significance of Bhagat Singh’s ideology to be followed in letter and spirit. The Physical Education Department carried out a  cycle rally in and around the campus wherein around 100 students participated holding placards highlighting philosophy and ideology of Bhagat Singh that infused ideas of revolution and patriotism in the hearts of the youngsters.

Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur applauded the efforts of the heads of departments and staff of Punjabi, History and Physical Education on the success of the event. She further said that the values of patriotism, courage and selflessness that these great heroes embodied are still relevant today. It is time the youngsters must wake up and draw inspiration from the lives of freedom fighters to bring change in society.

The event concluded with a moment of silence observed to honor the sacrifice of these great martyrs.

Celebrated World Water Day

 Department of Chemistry of KCW celebrated World Water Day by organizing a thought-provoking awareness lecture about importance of water conservation and sustainable water management practices on March 22nd, 2024 with the theme ‘Leveraging Water for Peace’. In this lecture, Head of the Department Mrs. Himkanta motivated the students  to take pledge for saving water and  make a positive impact on water conservation efforts. The event featured practical tips and tricks to save water in everyday life, emphasizing simple yet effective strategies that can contribute to water conservation and ultimately save lives. From reducing water waste in households to implementing water saving technologies in industries, every effort counts in safeguarding this precious resource for future generations.

     To continue the awareness campaign Ms. Gurnemat & Ms. Prisha (student of B.sc. II) also share some important and usefull informations regarding the safe and judicial use of water for healthy environment.

   Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur appreciated the efforts of the department and asked to keep motivation for organising such awareness campaigns.

ANTI-DRUG SKIT “HUNN JAGGO AIYAN” BY KCW, ROTARACT CLUB

KCW Rotaract Club has organized an Anti-Drug Skit “Hunn Jaggo Aiyan” on 21
March, 2024 to create awareness about the substance abuse among the students of
the college under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan by Indian Government to raise
alertness among the youth. The skit has depicted the real picture of our country that
how this menace has spread its roots to each section of the society and how our
country and its future is at stake due to drug exploitation. In the end students
motivated the audience to come out of this peril and lead a healthy and successful
life. The Principal appreciated the efforts of the Rotaract Club in creating
awareness about the drugs and influencing the students to create a drug free
environment around them.

21 ਮਾਰਚ 2024: ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ ਕਾਲਜ ਫਾਰ ਵਿਮੈਨ  ਸਿਵਲ  ਲਾਈਨਜ਼  ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ ਦੇ ਪੋਸਟ ਗਰੈਜੂਏਟ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਦਿਵਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਕਵਿਤਾ   ’ ਤੇ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਪੋਸਟਰ ਮੇਕਿੰਗ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਗਏ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ 40 ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣਾਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ।  ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੱਖ ਵੱਖ ਕਵੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਕਵਿਤਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਧਾਰ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਲਾ ਦਾ  ਬਾਖੂਬੀ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤਾ।  ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਪੋਸਟ ਗਰੈਜੂਏਟ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਡਾ ਨਰਿੰਦਰਜੀਤ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਦਿਵਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਸ਼ਨ ਵਾਂਗ ਮਨਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ,  ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਹੋਵੇ,  ਕਵਿਤਾ ਹੀ ਮਾਨਵ ਅਭਿਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਸਾਧਨ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਗਗਨਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਲੀਨ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ , ਦੂਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ  ਨਵਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਅਤੇ ਜਸਲੀਨ ਕੌਰ,  ਤੀਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਮਾਨਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸਾਖਾ ਨੇ , 4 ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣਾਂ ਨੇ  ਹੌਂਸਲਾ ਅਫ਼ਜਾਈ ਇਨਾਮ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤੇ ।  ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ ਇਕਬਾਲ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ  ਜੇਤੂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਨਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਟੀਫਿਕੇਟ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕੀਤੇ।  ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ ਇਕਬਾਲ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਹੱਲਾਸ਼ੇਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ।

Post Graduate Department of Commerce organized BUDGET 2K24 UNLOCK THE GENIUS WITHIN 

The Post Graduate Department of Commerce recently organized a Budget Quiz aimed at enhancing students’ understanding of fiscal policies and budgetary processes. The event was held on 20-3-2024 in the department of commerce and witnessed enthusiastic participation from B.com  students.

The quiz comprised 25  multiple choice questions covering topics such as government budgets, fiscal policy tools, taxation systems, and economic indicators. More than 130 students of different sections of B.com participated in it.  E – Certificates were also provided to all the participants.

Overall, the Budget Quiz organized by the Post Graduate Department of Commerce proved to be a resounding success, offering valuable insights and fostering a deeper understanding of fiscal matters among the student community. Such initiatives play a crucial role in nurturing academic excellence and preparing future professionals in the field of commerce and economics.

HAPPINESS ’

‘International day of happiness’ is a day aimed at making people around the world realise the
importance of happiness. United Nations General Assembly passed the resolution in 2012 to
celebrate this day on 20 th march every year realising that pursuit of happiness is a
fundamental human goal. To share happiness with friends and peers, NCC Department of
Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized an event on 20 th March 2024 in
collaboration with 3Pb Girls Bn NCC Ludhiana under the stewardship of Capt (Dr. Paramjeet
Kaur), Associate NCC Officer of the college. Col R.S. Chauhan, Commanding Officer,3 Pb
Girls Bn NCC Ludhiana was the chief guest of the event. NCC staff (Hawaldar Jaswinder
Singh and Naik Subedar Ranjit Singh, Director Dr. (Mrs) Mukti Gill, Principal Dr. (Mrs)
Iqbal Kaur, around 140 NCC cadets and 8 NCC Alumnae became part of this happiness
event. The aim of the event was to spread awareness among young generations about the
importance of happiness and to make everyone realise that happiness is a universal human
right.
NCC Cadets of the college UO Abha, Cadet Sandhya, Cadet Babli and Cadet Nikita
described the idea and theme of this year’s happiness day (Reconnecting for happiness,
Building Resilient Communities) with the aid of PowerPoint presentation. The cadets covered
the topics of introduction to happiness, historical background of the day, world happiness
index of myriad nations, place of India in world happiness list, reasons of staying unhappy,
importance of happiness in living and keys to enhance happiness level. Cadets also narrated
the comparative figures of happiness rate among men and women. The main attraction of
their talk was the strategies that NCC cadets can adopt to make the people around themselves
happy. The presentation came to a conclusion with discussion on the measures to be taken for
spreading awareness among people especially young generations.
In the second phase of event, Rank cum Award ceremony was organized for cadets who have
showcased excellent participation and leadership skills in the previous session. Final year
were given the ranks by Col R.S. Chauhan, NCC staff and college principal. Deserving cadets
were given awards to appreciate and celebrate their achievements and their contribution not
just for being NCC cadets but also for transforming themselves into productive youth for the
society. NCC alumnae cadets were also given appreciation for being part of this happiness
event. The event concluded with the patriotic NCC song and formal vote of thanks.

‘A Nature Fest’ held at Khalsa College for Women

The Botany Department of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized A Nature Fest on March 20th , 2024 celebrating  the  beauty and therapeutic features of Nature.  The initiative was taken in collaboration with SOCH (Society for Conservation & Healing of Environment, Ludhiana) where in a workshop on Bonsai, Medicinal Plants and  Dish Garden   was carried out.  The guests of the day were extended a warm welcome by Director Dr. Mukti Gill,  Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur and Dr. Kamaljit Kaur Grewal HOD of Botany, on their arrival. Environmentalist and President of the organization Dr. Balwinder Singh Lakhewali, along with Environmental Horticulturist and Secretary of SOCH Dr. Brij Mohan Bhardwaj and Media Coordinator Mrs. Sarabjeet Kaur graced the event.

S. Gurmukh Singh conducted the workshop beginning with the art of Bonsai making. He apprised the students about the varied aspects of Bonsai plant such ad designing and maintenance of the plant. Mrs. Sunaina Mittal showcased  an array of beautifully carved models of dish garden while educating about the intricacies of creating a dish garden. She showed gardens in miniature forms and emphasized about how it adds beauty, serenity and value to the life an individual. In the third segment of the workshop the students were taken for a tree walk by the eminent members of the NGO, to generate awareness on the conservation of environment. While teaching them about the therapeutic properties of the medicinal plants and trees the students were also informed about the scientific names of the trees.

The Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur congratulated Dr. Kamaljit Kaur Grewal and the staff of Botany Department for taking an initiative of raising awareness to enrich our lives through nature.

Department of Zoology organized Sparrow Melodies- an enchanting poem recitation competition to celebrate World Sparrow Day on 19 March, 2024.

Department of Zoology, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized Sparrow Melodies- an enchanting poem recitation competition to celebrate World Sparrow Day on 19 March, 2024. The students of various streams showcased their prowess in poem recitation in Hindi, English and Punjabi with the themes i.e. tweets of sparrows, save sparrow save nature, sparrows journeys and vanishing sparrows to convey the message of conservation and beauty of house sparrows, to emphasize the importance of house sparrows in ecosystem, threats to their population and habitat. Mrs. Sabina Bhalla, Head Department of English, Dr. Narinderjit Kaur, Head, Department of Punjabi and Dr. Kamini Sahir Head Department of Hindi were the esteemed judges for the event. A total of 17 students enthusiastically participated, showcasing their talent and passion for poetry in depicting the liveliness the sparrows bring to the world and the relationships shared between sparrows and humans. Madam Principal Dr. (Mrs) Iqbal Kaur felicitated the position holders with the certificates and appreciated the efforts made by students and the faculty members of Zoology Department. Students of B.Sc. Medical also placed bird feeders in the college campus and displayed placards in the morning assembly to emphasize the importance of broadening the conservation efforts of tiny birds.
