Red Cross Society aims to sensitize young students regarding first-aid measures to be adopted when professional medical help is not available. Blood donation camps, eye and dental check-up camps are organized regularly. The students, who volunteer for registration with the Red Cross Society, learn to serve the society.

Youth Red Cross (YRC)

Youth Red Cross (YRC) unit of the college is established with its true objective i.e. spreading awareness about the Red Cross principles and activities among the youth and developing humanitarian values among students. The following activities were initiated to achieve the objective of YRC:

2014-15 Lecture on cancer awareness by Dr. Navdeep Singh from SPS Apollo Hospital
First aid training programme in association with SPS Apollo Hospital where students were demonstrated the rescue breathing and cardiopulmonary resustication exercises which are the major components of Basic Life Support (BLS).
2015-16 Dental and general health check up camp in association with Fortis Hospital
Basic life support training programme in association with SPS Hospital to educate the participant on different BLS-CPR technologies and first aid.
An awareness programme on ‘Health First’ by Dr. Zinnie from Apollo Hospital
To make the students and hence the society aware of eye donation, an awareness programme in association with Punarjot Eye Bank society was organized
2021-22 The Youth Red Cross of the college under the able guidance of Ms. Himkanta, Ms. Nirupama Sood & Dr. Narienderjit has been throbbling with activity. An extension lecture on “Breast Cancer & Covid-19 New Variant” in collaboration with CMC was organised (on 6.12.21) whereby Dr. Pamela Jeyaraj, Head of Radiation Oncology, CMC apprised the students of symptoms, causes, prevention, screening & diagnosis.
A First-Aid counter was set up during Zonal Youth Festival organised at KCW (17.11.21 to 21.11.21) & the Annual Athletic Meet.
The Red Cross Unit facilitated distribution of college uniform to needy students. Stalls of articles made by special children from Guru Gyan Jyoti Vicklang Welfare society were put up on Diwali Mela (3.11.21).
2022-23 To boost special children’s confidence and teach moral values among Youth Red Cross volunteers and college students, stalls were set up by special children on 04.08.2022.
Youth Red Cross distributed uniforms among college students on 10.09.2022 and 19.09.2022 to extend help to college students.
Youth Red Cross organized a Mega voluntary blood donation camp on 17th September 2022 and a blood donation drive till 1st October 2022 in association with the Department of Health &Family Welfare, Govt. of Punjab.
Youth Red Cross celebrated World Heart Day on 29.09.2022 to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease, its warning signs, and preventive measures.
An Extension lecture on “Gynaecology disorders and Women’s Health” by Dr. Gursimran on 01.02.2023 to make young girls aware of general gynaecological disorders and polycystic ovary syndrome.
Youth Red Cross organized a Medicine Distribution Camp on 15.02.2023 to serve humanity in collaboration with ESI Hospital, Ludhiana.
Youth Red Cross installed the first aid desk on sports day from 03.03.2023-04.03.2023 to provide first aid in case of causality if any.
BLS (Basic Life Support) Training Workshop on 15.03.2023 by Dr. Nidhi Thakur, Consultant, Dept. of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, and Dr. Rahul Bansal, Consultant, Dept. Of Emergency Medicine to impart training in basic life support to cut down the death rate of patients with cardiorespiratory arrest.
To mark World Oral Health Day a visit to Fortis Hospital for a health talk on “Tips for Oral Hygiene” by Dr. Lakhveer Kaur, senior Consultant-Dental and Dr. Rajat Bhatia, senior consultant ENT and Coblation Surgery was organized on 20.03.2023.
2023-24 Red Cross celebrated World Donors’ Day on 14th june, 2023 and it was observed till 28th june, 2023 to generate awareness and need for voluntary and unpaid regular blood donations. Slogan writing competition was organised in collaboration with the Red Ribbon Club to further the cause.
Keeping its promise to serve humanity, the club students distributed white uniforms amongst 34 students on 9th August 2023.
To mark the “World Organ Donation Day” falling on 13th August, a rally was carried out on 12th August 2023, shedding light on the significance of organ donation.
An awareness programme to mark the “World Heart Day” was conducted on 29th September 2023, the volunteers displayed placards on protection and maintenance of a healthy heart.
To mark the National Cancer Day, a consultatory lecture by Dr. Shefali Sood, Consultant gynaecologist, SPS Hospital, Ludhiana, was held on 7th November 2023.
A visit to Fortis Hospital took place on 5th February 2024 to generate awareness regarding Cervical Cancer. Dr Arti Gupta Tuli, delivered an advisory lecture on the prevention, treatment and cure of the disease, stressing upon the importance of screening tests and Vaccination.
To create further sensitization, a second Cancer awareness campaign in collaboration with Jain International Trade Organization (JITO) was held on 13th February, 2024.Dr Monika Dhawan, Laparoscopic and General Surgeon, Head of Surgery, SKSS Dental College and Hospital, deliberated upon the various stages of cancer and its preventive measures.
With the aim of assisting humanity, the club members installed First-Aid Desk to provide medical relief and thus maintaining the spirit of Sports day on 6th and 7th March,2024.
