KCW GIRLS SHINE  IN B.C.A  SEM 1st PU  EXAMINATION

The students of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana once again proved their mettle in BCA-1st semester examinations, results of which were declared by Panjab University, Chandigarh.

Yukti  bagged 7th position in university and 1st position in college by scoring 359/400 marks (89.75 percent). Sneha and Mehak Khanna bagged 9th position in university in and 2nd position in college by scoring 356/400 marks (89 percent). Tansh Thamman stood 3rdin college by scoring 350/400 (87.5 percent) marks.

The elated students of the Department of Computer Science expressed happiness at the outcomes of the university exams.  Topper of the College, Yukti attributed her success to her hard work and her college teachers who supported her and always motivated her to study and perform well. She also thanked her parents and the college Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Iqbal Kaur for their blessings and support.

The college managing committee members congratulated the Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Iqbal Kaur and the staff of Computer Science department for their sincere efforts in generating stupendous results. They applauded the students for maintaining the tradition of the college in clinching university positions and also wished them luck to continue to scale greater heights in life.

“ART OF SUCCESS’’- A CAREER GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING SESSION

Career Coaching Cell of the Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized an extension lecture on ‘Art of Success’, a career guidance session focusing on the means and ways to prepare for UPSC examination on February 22, 2024. The resource persons for the seminar were Dr. Navneet Saini and Mr. Ravi Kant from Chanakya IAS Academy, Chandigarh. Around 75 students from various streams participated in this thought provoking interactive session. The resource person apprised the students on the relevance of joining civil services in order to serve the nation. They informed about the pattern of the examination and highlighted the role of planning and preparing well to achieve their goals. They stressed upon the need of continuous preparation and time management to crack the exam.  They abreast the students with the format of various competitive exams, there various levels and division of qualifying marks. They gave the practical tips to the beginners about how they can initiate the preparation for various competitive exams. Students participated very enthusiastically in the interactive session as they cleared their doubts about various problems encountered in the preparation for the exams. The Principal Dr.Iqbal Kaur applauded the efforts of the career coaching cell for organizing the extension lecture and stressed on the need for the continuous upgradation to have an edge in the highly competitive job market.

SKIT ON “NO HATE, ONLY EQUALITY” by Rotract Club, KCW

Rotract Club, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana has organized a skit on the topic “NO HATE, ONLY EQUALITY” to mark World Day of Social Justice. In the skit, the students highlighted the various social issues like gender discrimination, poverty, ageism, inequity on the basis of color, caste and creed existing in our society. Further, students motivated everyone to raise their voice against these injustices to make a socially integrated society. Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur appreciated the efforts of the students and inspired the students to uphold the principles of social justice.

KCW ORGANISES INFORMATIVE TALK ON NATURE, SCIENCE AND SOCIETY

Faculty of Sciences, Khalsa College for Women, Civil lines, Ludhiana in
collaboration with ‘School of Chemistry and Biochemistry’, Thapar institute of
Engineering and Technology organized an interactive talk on the topic “Nature
Science and Society” on 22nd February, 2024 for the students of B.Sc Medical,
Non-medical and Biotechnology. The guest speaker was Dr. Manmohan Chhibber,
Professor, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, TIET, Patiala. He shared
his views on the inter-relationship between Nature, Science and Society &
imparted the knowledge on how nature serves as inspiration for scientific enquiry
and developing scientific research aptitude.
The lecture was very educative and informative for the students as it dealt with the
various aspects of nature and science towards sustainable practices leading to
conventional and unconventional discoveries. The queries were dealt effectively at
the end of the session. Dr Chibber quenched the curiosities of the students by
diligently answering their queries and encouraged students to ‘Dare to think’.
Principal, Dr Iqbal Kaur appreciated the sincere efforts of Faculties of Science
Departments.

खालसा कॉलेज फॉर वूमेन में “अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मातृभाषा दिवस” मनाया गया।

दिनांक 21फरवरी 2024 को खालसा कॉलेज फॉर वूमेन सिविल लाइंस लुधियाना में संस्कृत एवं हिन्दी
विभाग द्वारा अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मातृभाषा दिवस बड़े ही हर्षोल्लास से मनाया गया।इस अवसर पर एक
प्रश्नोत्तरी प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया गया जिसमें विद्यार्थियों ने बड़े उत्साह से भाग लिया।इस
प्रतियोगिता में लगभग 60 छात्रों ने भाग लिया। विद्यार्थियों को हिंदी और संस्कृत भाषा से संबंधित
एक प्रश्नावली पत्र दिया गया यह प्रश्नावली संस्कृत और हिंदी भाषा से जुड़े महत्वपूर्ण पहलुओं तथा
ज्ञानवर्धक विषयों पर आधारित थी विद्यार्थियों ने बड़ी ही तन्मयता से इन प्रश्नों को पढ़ा और उनका
उत्तर दिया। इस प्रतियोगिता का उद्देश्य संस्कृत एवं हिंदी विद्यार्थियों को भाषा के मूलभूत पहलुओं
से अवगत कराना तथा भाषा संबंधी उनके ज्ञान का वर्णन करना था। इस प्रतियोगिता में ईनाम प्राप्त
करने वाले विद्यार्थियों के नाम इस प्रकार हैं
प्रथम पुरस्कार बीए तृतीय वर्ष की लीना शर्मा ने प्राप्त किया द्वितीय पुरस्कार संयुक्त रूप से बीए
द्वितीय वर्ष की मोनी मोनी कुमारी तथा तृतीय वर्ष की श्रेया शर्मा ने प्राप्त किया। प्रतियोगिता में
तृतीय पुरस्कार कोमल यादव बीए प्रथम वर्ष की छात्रा ने प्राप्त किया।

कॉलेज के प्रिंसिपल डॉक्टर इकबाल कौर ने विजयी छात्रों को मुबारकबाद देते हुए संस्कृत एवं हिंदी
विभाग के अध्यापकों की सराहना की तथा भविष्य में भी ऐसी प्रतियोगिताओं के आयोजन करने के
लिए प्रेरित किया उन्होंने कहा कि इस प्रकार की प्रतियोगिताएं विद्यार्थियों में विद्यार्थियों में भाषा के
सामान्य ज्ञान का वर्धन करती हैंऔर भाषा के प्रति उनकी रुचि को बढ़ाती हैं।

ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਮਾਤ- ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦਿਵਸ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਅਤੇ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਉਚਾਰਣ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਗਏ। ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣਾਂ
ਨੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੜੇ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁਲਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ, ਗੁਰਲੀਨ ਕੌਰ, ਜੈਸਮੀਨ
ਕੌਰ ਅਤੇ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਉਚਾਰਣ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੈਸਮੀਨ ਕੌਰ, ਜੀਨਾ, ਕਰਮਵੀਰ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਕ੍ਰਮਵਾਰ ਪਹਿਲਾ, ਦੂਜਾ, ਤੀਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਹਾਸਲ
ਕੀਤਾ।ਜੇਤੂ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਟੀਫਿਕੇਟ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਡਾ. ਨਰਿੰਦਰਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ
ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਿੰਨੀਆਂ ਵੀ ਹੋਰ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰ ਲਵੇ ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਨੇੜਤਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਂ
ਬੋਲੀ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਮਾਜ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਆਪ ਮੁਹਾਰੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮਾਤ-
ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਕੌਮ ਦਾ ਵਿਰਸਾ ਹੈ। ਹਰ ਇਲਾਕੇ, ਪ੍ਰਾਂਤ ਜਾਂ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਸਾਡੀ ਮਾਤ- ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਹੈ। ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ.
ਇਕਬਾਲ ਕੌਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਜੇਤੂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਗ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਹੋਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਤ- ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਲਈ ਪਿਆਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ।

One-Day Workshop on Healing through Mind and Music

Self-Empowerment

The Departments of Psychology and Music Vocal & Instrumental, Khalsa College for Women, Civil
Lines, Ludhiana organised a One-Day Workshop titled Healing through Mind and Music, aimed at
self empowerment and capacity building of more than 106 participants from the respective
departments. The workshop held on 20 th February 2024 was initiated with the lamp lighting
ceremony and introduction to the effect of Sufi Music on emotions and mental health.
The students from departments of Music and Psychology presented a dance performance on a sufi
song and sang the traditional Jugni in Sufi Music version.The resource person, Ms Jasmeet Kaur, an
Internationally Certified and Licensed Heal your Life Teacher, writer, poetess and a Sufi singer
started with introducing the students to relaxation in stressful times.
The workshop emphasised on inculcating self-empowerment skills and co-operation traits by
introducing the students to the idea of vision board- What is it, how to create it, how it helps in
connecting with the own self.
The resource person focussed on helping the individuals unlock the potential of becoming self-
aware, and, understand emotions and relationships better and work on mental health through the
philosophies of Louise Hay.
The workshop focused on learning of various meditation methods, healing effects of music and
motivating everyone towards a positive personal transformation in their mental health journey. The
students participated enthusiastically and felt empowered with this session as they imbibed the tips
and tools for effective management of their emotions in the true spirit.
The Principal, Dr Iqbal Kaur appreciated the Department of Psychology and Music Vocal and
Instrumental for enabling the students with experiential learning for the amalgamation of their
pursuits towards achieving positive mental health through psychological techniques and the
healing power of music.

KCW students visit Dr. Jagmohan Singh for an Interactive Session
on Shaheed Bhagat Singh

The students of PG department of History of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines,
Ludhiana visited Dr. Jagmohan Singh, nephew of legendry freedom fighter
Shaheed Bhagat Singh for an interactive session. While talking to the students he
threw light on the lesser known aspects of his life and activism. He also shared the
historical aspects of the freedom struggle while talking about the culture of Punjab.
He further discussed the issues of contemporary times and touched upon society,
agriculture and history. Students actively participated and asked questions about the
life of Bhagat Singh which enriched their knowledge about freedom struggles.
Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur appreciated the efforts of the staff of History Department and
motivated the students to draw inspiration from freedom fighter Shaheed Bhagat
Singh.

KCW students shine at Rangmach 2024

The students of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana participated in
various categories in Rangmanch 2024 an Inter College Cultural Fest held at Sri
Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management, Ludhiana.
Khushi Anand of B.Sc Honors Biotechnology won 2nd prize in Classical dance with a
Cash prize of 5100 while the folk dance group bagged 2 nd prize in group folk dance
with a cash prize of 21000 in the Nritya Tarang Category.
Students from the Music Vocal Department of the college also won prizes in the
category of Sur Tarang i.e Bollywood group song And Sufi Song (Megha Rani, B.A I)
each bagging 3 rd position.
The Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur applauded the students for their achievements and
congratulated teacher co-ordinators Dr. Reema Sharma, Head of Music Department
and Dr. Pooja Chatley, Head of BBA Department.

Basant Panchami Celebration at KCW

The vibrant hues of Basant Panchami adorned the premises of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, as the Department of Music was all set to host a celebration steeped in melody and tradition. Scheduled on 15th February 2024, the auspicious occasion promised a delightful blend of musical performances and insightful discourses. Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur graced the occasion.

Under the leadership of the Music Department, both vocal and instrumental talents converged, showcasing their artistry and dedication. The students of the institute graced the stage with their rendition and filled the atmosphere with harmony and rhythm. Dr. Reema Sharma, Head Deptt. of Music, enlightened the students about the rich heritage of Raag Basant, fostering a deeper appreciation for our cultural legacy . This was followed by vocal and instrumental recitals by the students.

This initiative was aimed to instil a profound sense of cultural understanding among the students by emphasizing the significance of the Basant and the Baithak system in our collective consciousness.

Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur appreciated the efforts of the Music Department and encouraged the students to participate in such activities as it will enhance their knowledge and skills and keep them rooted in their culture and tradition.
