Organized International Seminar “Punjab, Punjabi Ate Punjabi Virasat De Parmukh Nayak”,

The Post Graduate Department of Punjabi of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana  organized a one day International seminar in the college Auditorium under the title ‘Punjab, Punjabi ate Punjabi Virasat de Parmukh Nayak’. The seminar was organized in collaboration with Jagat Punjabi Sabha, Canada. Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur accorded a warm welcome to the guests and delegates. Director Dr. Mukti Gill along with Sardar Gursimran Singh Grewal, Treasurer Khalsa Diwan, Madam Kushal Dhillon, Manager, KCW and Principals from various institutes were among the esteemed guests of the day. Faculty, Scholars and researchers from various Universities and Institutes from India and abroad participated in the Seminar. Event Coordinator Dr. Narinderjeet Kaur, Associate Professor Punjabi Department apprised the audience about the seminar and its key aspects. The day kick started with shabad gayan followed by lamp lighting ceremony and a documentary on Punjabi Soorma Jarnail Harbaksh Singh. S. Ajaib Singh Chatha, Chairman, Jagat Punjabi Sabha, Canada presented the inaugural address and touched upon the nuances of Punjabi Culture, Literature and Heritage. He emphasized upon the importance of reading and encouraged the youngsters to inculcate moral values for a fulfilling life.

Dr. Rajinder Pal Singh Brar, former Dean Languages, Punjabi University, Patiala delivered keynote address. In his address he deliberated upon the definition of Punjabi Nayak and his role in inspiring people. He presented a critique of true Nayak referring to warriors like Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Dulla Bhatti who possessed qualities of wit, courage, valor and influenced lives of people positively.

Dr.  Amarjit Singh Dua, former Dean , College Development Council, GNDU, Amritsar graced the event as guest of Honor. While speaking on the Nayak he reflected upon the larger than lives of Sikh  Gurus: Guru Nanak Dev ji, Guru Teg Bahadur ji and Guru Gobind Singh ji. Stories of their courage and sacrifice make them  real Nayaks of Punjab. He also highlighted the role of Sikh community serving the people across the world.

 The first session was taken over by the eminent academicians from various parts of the country and abroad. Dr. Baldev Singh, Principal, University College , Bahadurpur initiated the session by inviting upon Dr. Sarabjinder Singh, Dean, Faculty Humanities and Religious Studies, GNDU, Amritsar as Chairperson of the session. Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor, Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College, Shri Anandpur Sahib, Roop Nagar deliberated upon the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji. Vice chairperson Dr. Baljit Kaur Riar, GNDU, Amritsar deliberated upon the rich heritage of Punjab and its heroes who touched and transformed lives through their immense contribution to its culture and heritage. Dr. Sarabjinder Singh, Dean, Faculty Humanities and Religious Studies, GNDU, Amritsar congratulated the organizers for choosing such a wider issue for discussion. In his address, Dr. Sarabjinder foregrounded upon the lost heroes like Ved Vyas, Dev Ridhi, Bhai Gurdas and others who scripted religious granths. He further insisted upon the need to revisit and relearn our great heroes to save our culture.

S. Sardool Singh Thiara, President, Jagat Punjabi Sabha, Canada while emphasizing upon the importance of preserving  Maa Boli Punjabi began the technical session II. He invited Dr. Jaspal Singh Dasuvi from Canada as Chairperson of session II. Professor Gurpreet Singh, Assistant Professor, Guru Gobind National College, Narangwal reflected upon the significance of preserving our culture, heritage and Maa Boli Punjabi. He discussed the role of education in building up an empowering and sustainable society. Dr. Inderjit Kaur, HOD, Department of Punjabi from Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd touched upon the intricacies of Punjabi Literature and portrayal of Nayak.

In his valedictory address Sardar Sardool Singh Thiara, appreciated the efforts of the organizers who worked an extra mile to bring insights into the important issue of Punjab, Punjabi ate Punjabi Virasat that unearths the important facets of Punjabi Literature, life and culture. The guests were extended with the tokens of appreciation. The event  culminated with the vote of thanks proposed by event Coordinator Dr. Narinderjit Kaur, Associate Professor from the Department of Punjabi.

NCC Cadets Organised Seminar on National Human Trafficking  Awareness Day

Human trafficking, also known as trafficking in persons, is a crime that involves compelling or coercing a person to do specific acts. In a commendable display of Unity and Responsibility, the NCC department of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana in collaboration with 3 PB Girls Bn. NCC organized a seminar on the theme ‘Awareness regarding Human Trafficking’ on January 11, 2024, which is celebrated as National Human Trafficking Awareness Day every year. The seminar was undertaken under the stewardship of Col. R.S Chauhan (Commanding Officer, 3 Pb Girls Bn. NCC Ludhiana), College Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Iqbal Kaur, Associate NCC Officer Capt. (Dr.) Paramjeet Kaur and NCC PI staff. 100 NCC cadets of KCW became part of this event under the banner ‘Social Service and Community Development’.

The NCC cadets UO Heena Jhakkhar, Cadet Abhinoor Kaur, Cadet Harmandeep Kaur and Cadet Babli discussed various forms of Human Trafficking especially in modern AI world.  NCC cadets started their talk with the fact that Human Trafficking is the third largest international crime in the present time. During the event, cadets showcased myriad kinds of Trafficking (Child Trafficking, Sexual Trafficking, Labour Trafficking and Organ Trafficking), Causes, and Impacts on victims and traffickers, through a power point presentation. They explained in detail the causes of Human Trafficking such as slavery, prostitution, poverty and lack of social and economic opportunities etc. which must be tackled seriously by the governments to make the nation aware about seriousness of Human Trafficking. NCC cadets also described how youngsters can be manipulated by indulging in such trafficking activities. Cadets demonstrated the ways and the initiatives taken by Indian government to tackle this social evil. They pledged that they will be vigilant for incidences happening around their neighborhood and would report suspicious activities to concerned authorities. They also promised that they would raise awareness about this grave issue in their surroundings. The event concluded with inspiring echo of NCC song.

College Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Iqbal Kaur appreciated the efforts put in by NCC department. She applauded cadets for their sincere efforts and motivated them to be and make others aware of Human Trafficking in their daily lives. She added that such events can make youngsters responsible citizens of nation. This event served as a testament to the power of youth in creating positive change and eradicating divisive sentiments.

‘Shaheedi Gurpurab’ of Guru Teg Bahadur ji, Observed at Khalsa College for Women

To commemorate the martyrdom day of the ninth Guru of Sikhs, Shri Guru Teg Bahadur ji, Sehaj Path was organized from 11th December, 2023 to 17th December, 2023 in  Sarjit Gurudwara situated in the premises of Khalsa College for Women. With the solicit divine grace, this grand day was celebrated with full devotion under the able guidance of Khalsa Dewan, Director Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill and College Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur with cooperation from Malwa Central College of Education, Khalsa Girls Senior Secondary School, Malwa Khalsa Senior Secondary School for Boys, Khalsa Institute of Management & Technology, the entire college management, the entire staff, students and hostlers of Khalsa College for Women.

Keeping up with the tradition and with the grace of God, this divine service concluded on December 17th, 2023 with the Bhog Ceremony of Sehaj Path. Hostel students from various streams participated zealously in ‘Sewa’ in different areas-cleaning of Gurudwara premises, cutting and chopping of vegetables, making chapattis, preparation of ‘Karah Prasad’, and ‘Langar’ and serving the same with utmost dedication to the public. The employees of the college also contributed towards the service. The audience was mesmerized with the soulful ‘Shabad Kirtan’  performed by Hajoori Raagi Bhai Gurpreet Singh Ji from Gurudwara Jawaddi Taksaal.  Teachers and students also recited Shabad Gurbani. Such celebrations encourage everybody to step forward to rouse consciousness for a proud culture.

Celebration of Constitution Day (26-11-2023)

Department of Political Science, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana celebrated National Constitution Day also known as Law Day and Samvidhan Diwas on 26th November, 2023. An extension lecture on the topic “History in Making: Evolution of Indian constitution” was organized at 11:30 AM to cherish the glory and reaffirm our commitment to uphold the ideology of great Indian constitution. Mr. Varun Goel, Assistant Professor of LRDAV College, Jagraon shared his expertise on the subject. He emphasized the importance of Constitution Day, the significance of its celebration and commemorated the people who contributed to the development of Indian constitution. He highlighted the basic differences of Indian constitution than that of other countries with examples indicating the prerequisites of the constitution such as societal, familial and individual needs.  The objective behind celebrating the day was to spread awareness on the importance of the Indian Constitution and to acknowledge the contributions of its architect, Dr B R Ambedkar.

Scholarship Distribution and Nation Builder Award by Rotaract Club at KCW

Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, under the patronage of Rotary Club, Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana, organized the distribution of scholarships to the meritorious students and nation builder award to the teachers followed by installation ceremony of the new members of Rotaract Club of the college. Mr. Vijay Anand, President Rotary Club, Ludhiana, along with esteemed members and guests of Rotary Club, graced the event. On the occasion, the meritorious students were awarded with scholarships. Further, our outstanding teachers Dr. Khuship Kaur, Dr. Pooja Chatley, Dr. (Capt.) Paramjeet Kaur and Ms. Vibha Jain were awarded with the Nation Builder Award followed by the installation ceremony of the office bearers of the college Rotaract Club. The office bearers were apprised about the objectives of the club that is self-development of youngsters through service to community, inculcate in them the skills and leadership qualities and enable them to comprehend the needs and concerns of the society. The President further deliberated upon the four way test of the things we think, say or do. The students were further advised to adhere to the Motto of Rotary Club- “Service before Self” and be the ambassadors of positive change.

 The college Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Iqbal Kaur applauded the students, teachers, office bearers and the teacher Incharge Dr. Aanchal Arora, Head Rotaract Club, KCW for the initiative. While addressing she motivated the students to participate in the welfare activities enthusiastically to support the downtrodden, to educate the ignorant and to create a harmonious environment for a better tomorrow.

NCC Cadets of Khalsa College for Women Organised Seminar on Communal Harmony

In a commendable display of Unity and Solidarity, the NCC department of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana in collaboration with 3 PB Girls Bn. NCC organized a seminar on the theme ‘National Integration & Communal Harmony’ on November 24, 2023.

The seminar was undertaken under the stewardship of Col. R.S Chauhan (Commanding Officer, 3 Pb Girls Bn. NCC Ludhiana), College officiating Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Iqbal Kaur, Associate NCC Officer Capt. (Dr.) Paramjeet Kaur and NCC PI staff. Around 100 NCC cadets became part of this event under the banner ‘Communal Harmony & National Integration’.

The NCC cadets UO Prachi, UO Bhawna, Cadet Aabha and Cadet Harmanjeet Kaur discussed importance of National Integration especially in modern AI world. During the event, cadets showcased the unity and diversity through a power point presentation. They explained the principles such as Democracy, Fundamental Rights, Fundamental Duties, Unified Justice System, Secularism, National Emblem and National Festivals in depth which can help in making the nation integrated and united. NCC cadets also described how youngsters can be indulged into responsible activities towards their nation & community. Cadets demonstrated the ways to promote National Integration in country and the initiatives taken by Indian government in the present scenario.

College officiating Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Iqbal Kaur appreciated the efforts put in by NCC department. She applauded cadets for their sincere efforts and motivated them to be a part of Communal Harmony campaign in their daily lives. Art in science competition (Pushpa gujral science city)

Pushpa gujral science city ,Jalandhar Organized an ‘Art in Science Competition’ On 12 October 2023 on the theme artistic representation of Science ,Technology, Engineering

,Math and Sustainable. Twelve participants participated from UG classes in this competition. The purpose of the competition was to bring out the different Creative ideas .

Khalsa College for Women marked the Martyrdom Day of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha

Khalsa College for women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana  organised an array of activities to commemorate the martyrdom day of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha. The Department of history shared a power point presentation and a special write up among all platforms to apprise the youngsters about the life of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha celebrating his contribution he made to the fight of freedom struggle.

A skit titled ‘Jaago’ was performed in the college campus in sync with Punjab Government’s Anti-Drug Campaign where in message regarding the harmful effects of drugs and its consequences was effectively delivered.

Pledge taking ceremony organised by police Commissionerate, Ludhiana was also organised in  the college campus where  in staff and students of sister institutions of KCW also participated and took pledge to say no to drugs and contribute positively to help people get rid of drugs. Besides students of Khalsa College of Management and Technology also presented a play giving out a message to the youngsters to refrain from drugs.

Another initiative taken by Police Commissionerate, Ludhiana is a  cycle rally  to be organised on 16th November, 2023 with the objective to spread awareness about drugs and its harmful effects will be carried out across the city. Volunteers from NCC, NSS and Student Council will participate to mark the day.

The college Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur, Managing Committee along with the Principals of sister institutes and officers and staff from Police Commissionerate, Ludhiana graced the event.
