To sensitize young college students towards upcoming environmental challenges and climate
change, the NCC department of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana in
collaboration with 3 Pb Girls Bn. NCC organized a Nukkad Natak on the theme Preventing
‘Plastic Pollution’ on September 8, 2023. The event was a part of Prime Minister Sri
Narendra Modi’s vision for India’s G20 presidency. The campaign was undertaken under the
stewardship of Col. R.S Chauhan (Commanding Officer, 3 Pb Girls Bn. NCC Ludhiana),
College Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Iqbal Kaur, Associate NCC Officer Capt. (Dr.) Paramjeet Kaur
and NCC PI staff. Around 100 NCC cadets became part of this event under the banner
‘Puneet Sagar Abhiyan’. The event aimed at inspiring young minds to take constructive
action and reduce the consumption of single-use Plastic.
During the event, cadets showcased the environmental awareness lessons in the form of a
Nukkad Natak. They explained the dreadful current scenario in which citizens are carelessly
polluting the environment, and are not at all bothered about the survival of future generations.
Cadets also demonstrated the importance of planting saplings to make the air worth living.
At the conclusion of event, cadets pledged that they will incorporate three Rs (Reduce,
Reuse, Recycle) in their daily lives and will do efforts to save world environment by reducing
use of plastic and planting trees. They also promised that they will use environmental
resources to the least possible extent.
College Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Iqbal Kaur appreciated the efforts put in by NCC department.
She applauded cadets for their sincere efforts and motivated them to adopt creative ways for
disposal of plastic waste in the form of recycling. She added that such events can make these
youngsters’ responsible citizens of nation.
