NCC Cadets of Khalsa College for Women Organized Puneet Sagar Abhiyan Event

To sensitize young college students towards upcoming environmental challenges and climate

change, the NCC department of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana in

collaboration with 3 Pb Girls Bn. NCC organized a Nukkad Natak on the theme Preventing

‘Plastic Pollution’ on September 8, 2023. The event was a part of Prime Minister Sri

Narendra Modi’s vision for India’s G20 presidency. The campaign was undertaken under the

stewardship of Col. R.S Chauhan (Commanding Officer, 3 Pb Girls Bn. NCC Ludhiana),

College Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Iqbal Kaur, Associate NCC Officer Capt. (Dr.) Paramjeet Kaur

and NCC PI staff. Around 100 NCC cadets became part of this event under the banner

‘Puneet Sagar Abhiyan’. The event aimed at inspiring young minds to take constructive

action and reduce the consumption of single-use Plastic.

During the event, cadets showcased the environmental awareness lessons in the form of a

Nukkad Natak. They explained the dreadful current scenario in which citizens are carelessly

polluting the environment, and are not at all bothered about the survival of future generations.

Cadets also demonstrated the importance of planting saplings to make the air worth living.

At the conclusion of event, cadets pledged that they will incorporate three Rs (Reduce,

Reuse, Recycle) in their daily lives and will do efforts to save world environment by reducing

use of plastic and planting trees. They also promised that they will use environmental

resources to the least possible extent.

College Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Iqbal Kaur appreciated the efforts put in by NCC department.

She applauded cadets for their sincere efforts and motivated them to adopt creative ways for

disposal of plastic waste in the form of recycling. She added that such events can make these

youngsters’ responsible citizens of nation.

के सी डब्लयू के संस्कृत विभाग द्वारा मनाया गया संस्कृत दिवस

खालसा कॉलेज फॉर वूमेन सिविल लाइंस लुधियाना के संस्कृत विभाग के द्वारा 5 सितंबर 2023 को संस्कृत दिवस मनाया गया । इसमें अतिथि के रूप में रवि नंदन चैरिटेबल ट्रस्ट के अध्यक्ष श्री खगेश शर्मा जी, सेक्रेटरी शिव प्रभाकर जी तथा कैशियर हर्ष  प्रभाकर जी उपस्थित रहे। कार्यक्रम का आरंभ गणेश वंदना से हुआ । संस्कृत  दिवस को मनाते हुए रवि नंदन चैरिटेबल ट्रस्ट के सौजन्य से  श्लोकोच्चारण प्रतियोगिता आयोजित की गई।

इस प्रतियोगिता में 12 छात्राओं ने भाग लिया । छात्राओं ने श्रीमद् भगवत् गीता के विभिन्न अध्यायों में से श्लोक कण्ठस्थ कर उनका उच्चारण किया। एक टीम में दो छात्राओं ने भाग लिया।   इस प्रतियोगिता  में श्रीमती कामिनी साहिर ( हिंदी विभाग अध्यक्ष ) तथा  श्रीमती विभा जैन ( इतिहास विभाग) निर्णायक के रूप में उपस्थित रहे। प्रतियोगिता में प्रथम पुरस्कार आरती और करिश्मा ने प्राप्त किया , द्वितीय पुरस्कार लीना और तमन्ना को मिला  तथा तृतीय पुरस्कार वंशिका और विक्की  ने प्राप्त किया। रवि नंदन चैरिटेबल ट्रस्ट  के  अध्यक्ष श्री खगेश  शर्मा जी ने छात्राओं को  सम्बोधित करते हुए संस्कृत भाषा के महत्व के बारे में बताया।संस्कृत दिवस के साथ-साथ अध्यापक दिवस को भी मनाते हुए छात्राओं ने अध्यापकों को अध्यापक दिवस की शुभकामनाएं दी तथा अध्यापकों के सम्मान में संस्कृत श्लोकों का  उच्चारण किया। कार्यक्रम के अंत में रवि नंदन चैरिटेबल ट्रस्ट के सदस्यों ने छात्राओं को  स्कॉलरशिप के रूप में चेक प्रदान कर छात्राओं को संस्कृत विषय पढ़ने के लिए उत्साहित किया।

प्रिंसिपल डॉक्टर इकबाल कौर जी ने कार्यक्रम की सफलता पर हार्दिक बधाई दी  तथा आए हुए अतिथियों का धन्यवाद  किया। उन्होंने छात्राओं को ऐसे कार्यक्रमों में भाग लेने के लिए प्रेरित किया।

ECONOVERSE An Intra College PPT Competition

The Economics Department of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organized an intra college PPT competition on September 4, 2023 on the theme titled ECONOVERSE: A Journey into the World of Economics. The objective of the competition was to abreast the students with the various issues concerning India and other economies of the world. While enriching Students knowledge and enabling them to tap into their creative potentials. 17 students from the various streams of the college participated in the competition enthusiastically. The students showcased their skills on the various themes such as Chandrayan 3- how India is fueling its space economy, Empowering women in the era of Digital India, Mental wellbeing for economic wellbeing, Cyber security – Guard your privacy and your peace of mind, India’s journey towards becoming $5 trillion economy, The brilliance and weirdness of ChatGPT, G20 For Inclusive and Sustainable Growth

Dr. Khushdeep kaur, Department of Commerce and Dr. Charita Mehta , Department of Physics Were the judges of the event. The students were evaluated on the different parameters on the terms of their performance.

Kim Sachdeva  of  BBA II Bagged first prize while Simarpreet & sanya jain of BBA III & BBA II And Anshita of BCA III  were adjudged second and third respectively. The consolation prize was bagged by Riya & Muskaan of BBA II. All the participants were given certificates at the end of the event.

College Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur applauded entire staff of Economics Department on the success of event. She further added that such competitions empower the youngsters with practical skills and motivate them for innovation.

KCW students achieved position in M.A (FINE ARTS) 2th Semester 2023

The students of Khalsa College for women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana have achieved outstanding results in M.A.  2th Semester  results of which were declared by Punjab University on 1st september  2023. Ten students of the college placed their names in Ten University Positions. Bhumika   Arora has bagged 1st University Position by scoring 392/400 marks (98%), Riya Jain has been placed 2nd position in university with 388/400 marks (97%), Shreya Jain, Divya Uppal and Simran got 3rd Position in University with 386/400 marks (96.5%), Mehak Singh and Ishita jaidka bagged 4th Position in University with 385/400 marks (96.2 %), Divya Jain 5th position in the university by scoring 383/400 marks (95.7%). Raveena kumari got 8th Position in University 379/400 (94.7%). Muskan Jain got 9th Position in University 377/400 (94.2%).Khushi Chopra got 10thPosition in University 375/400 (93.7%). All other students who had appeared in the examination have secured more than 85% marks. The   prestigious managing Committee Congratulated Madam Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Iqbal Kaur and Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill (Director) and the staff of the Fine Arts Deptt.  for their sincere efforts in generating excellent results. They applauded the students for maintaining the tradition of the college in clinching Top University Positions and also wished them luck to continue to scale greater heights

The college affiliated with Panjab University, Chandigarh, is proud to announce the exceptional achievements of its students. The top positions have been secured by three outstanding students: Chetna,Prabhkiran and Rishita .These students have demonstrated exceptional prowess in their academic pursuits and have proven themselves to be deserving recipients of the top positions. Their dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence have set a high standard for their peers. The overall performance of all students in the course has been commendable, reflecting the rigorous academic curriculum and the unwavering guidance of the faculty members. Khalsa College for Women Celebrates National Sports Day

The Physical Education Department of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana celebrated National Sports Day to commemorate the birthday of Hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand on August 29, 2023. The day marks special significance for the sports students as Major Dhyan Chand’s exemplary performances and extensive contribution to the field of sports is an inspiration and matter of great pride for the nation. A power point presentation on the life and achievements of Major Dhyan Chand was showcased in the college auditorium.

Olympian Hardeep Singh Grewal, Indian Field Hockey player was the guest speaker of the day. While addressing the students he shared memories with Major Dhyan Chand and apprised them about his charismatic personality, simplicity and patriotism for his country. Further he deliberated upon the importance of sports in student’s life. He added that women sports persons are scaling new heights everyday and sports is a promising field that provides for a platform to girls to explore their potential. He concluded with his words of wisdom on importance of hard work and discipline in life. The outstanding sportspersons of the college were also honored at the event. Director Dr. Mukti Gill also graced the occasion.

Shivani has bagged 1st University Position by scoring 1524/1600 marks (95.2%), Aditi Mishra has been placed 2nd position in University with 1515/1600 marks (94.6%), Manminder Kaur, Shivani Kapoor and Jaspreet Kaur got 3rd Position in University with 1502/1600 marks (93.8%), Sukhampreet Kaur bagged 7th Position in University with 1491/1600 marks (93.1 %), Amrit Kaur and Shilpa bagged 8th position in the university by scoring 1487/1600 marks (92.9%) . All other students who had appeared in the examination have secured more than 85% marks. ‘Nuevos Comienzos’ at KCW

The Humanities Department of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized a Freshers Party “Nuevos Comienzos” for B.A first year students on August 23rd , 2023. The entertaining extravaganza comprising dances, melodious Songs, mesmerizing Classical dance and guitar performances, group  dances and choreography was presented by the students. The hallmark of the day was Ms. Freshers contest in which  a number of  students dressed as beauty divas from under graduate and post graduate streams participated and contested for the titles.

Mrs. Sangeeta, Head Department of Physics, Dr. Priyaka Khanna, Head Department of Commerce and Dr. Pooja Chatley, Head, Department of BBA graced the event as Judges. Sharvi was entitled as Ms. Freshers 2023, Pari bagged the title of 1st Runner up, Riya was graced with the title of IInd Runner up.   Taranpreet was sashayed down for Miss Ramp on Fire and Jaspreet was adjudged Miss Charming. Ms. Sartorial Diva was bagged by Ekta.

Officiating  Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur congratulated overall Incharge Mrs.  Sabina Bhalla, Head Department of English on the success of the event. She also appreciated the efforts of the students and the teachers. She extended good wishes to the students for their new beginnings of college life. She further motivated them to work hard and scale new heights.

ANTIRAGGING WEEK AT KCW

Anti Ragging Week was celebrated in Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana from 12th to 18th August 2023 as a part of UGC media campaign to curb the menace of ragging in Higher Educational Institutions. As per UGC’s decision of observing Anti Ragging Day on 12th August followed by Anti Ragging Week from 12th August to 18th August every year. Anti Ragging Cell in collaboration with Legal Literacy Club of the college organized Poster making and Slogan writing competition on the theme “ Say Yes To Joyful and Ragging Free Campus”. To observe Anti Ragging Day, special assembly was organized in the auditorium on 12th August where in Ms. Tulika, President, Legal Literacy club apprised the students of Anti Ragging activities, Role of Supreme Court and UGC to prevent ragging activities through powerpoint presentation. Special assembly concluded with PLEDGE by students, teachers and non teaching staff. On 16.08.2023, documentary on  “Ragging Laws  in India” was shown to the students in tutorial period to make them aware about protection given to the victims and punishment.

FUN AND FROLIC MARK FRESHERS PARTY AT KCW

Freshers party is the moment when all the seniors whole heartedly and joyfully welcome their juniors. Fun, frolic and rejuvenation marked the Freshers party organized by the departments of Computer Science and Business Management at Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana. The mesmerizing music, songs, flash freezing lights and the exuberant students were the defining moments in the party.

The show was a blend of cultural items and foot tapping performances. The gala event of the day “Ramp Modeling” by the students of First year was judged by Ms.Sabina Bhalla,Ms. Ritu Ahuja,Dr Kamini sahir.The results of the same are: Miss Fresher (Dept. of Computer Science) – Pallavi Sood, First Runner up -Divyanshi, Second Runner up-Harshita Kohli, Miss BBA (Dept. of Business Management) –Sanjam Jolly,First Runner up- Manveet Bedi and Second Runner up-Ashmeet Kaur
