BASIC LIFE SUPPORT TRAINING

Youth Red Cross (YRC) Unit of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana in collaboration with Satguru Partap Singh Hospitals, Ludhiana is organized BLS (Basic Life Support) Training Workshop on 15.03.2023 for students, teaching and non-teaching staff members. Dr. Nidhi Thakur, Consultant, Dept. of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Dr. Rahul Bansal, Consultant, Dept. Of Emergency Medicine trained the students and explained the steps on BLS. 

Poster Making Competition held at KCW

The Department of Economics of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines,  Ludhiana organized an intra- college Poster Making Competition on 15 march 2023. The objective of the programme was to mark World Consumer Rights Day, while enriching students knowledge and enabling them to tap into their creative potential. The theme of the event was Clean Energy Transitions.

Around 30 students from various streams participated in the competition. The judges were Mrs. Sangeeta Sharma (HOD, Department of Physics), Mrs Harveen kaur (HOD, Department of Sociology), Mrs Ashu (HOD, Department of Fine-Arts). The students showcased their creative talent exploring various themes such as, Harmful effects of conventional energy sources, Shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy, A green planet is a clean planet, Together we can! save the planet and Clean energy transition for a happy planet. The students were evaluated on different parameters in terms of their performance.

Muskan thakur from M.com I bagged first prize ,while Teesha Goyal from BA 3 and Jaspreet Kaur Bcom 3 secured second and third position respectively. All the participants given certificates at the conclusion.

The college Principal applauded the department of Economics on their efforts to make this event a success.

Poster making competition “WildArt”

Department of Zoology, Khalsa College for women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized an Intra-class Poster making Competition “WildArt” on 15th March, 2023 to sensitize the students regarding impact of climate change on wildlife. The event was basically focused on one of the themes given under G20 and Y20 submit. The objective of the competition was to aware students regarding the issues related to climate change, challenges that wildlife face and finding solutions to ensure sustainable transformation. Various themes were given to teams for the contest such as  “Effect of Climate Change on Animals”, Wildlife Conservation and Sustainable Development Goals for Animal Welfare for team B.Sc-I, II and III respectively. The judgement was given by esteemed Professors Dr Kamaljit Grewal, Dr Monica Mahajan and Ms Ashu. A total of 38 students from medical stream participated in this event. All the participants expressed their views in a very beautiful manner and efficiently explained the given themes. Yashika, Ramesh and Madhuri grabbed the first, second and third positions respectively from B.Sc-I year. In B.Sc –II year Amritpal scored first, Sadhna scored second and Tanvi scored third prize. The first, second, third positions were hold by Ashmeet, Jaspreet and Jasleen from B.Sc-III year. Principal Dr Mukti Gill appreciated the efforts of Dr Monita Dhiman, HOD Zoology and the faculty members and congratulated the winners and participants for their efforts.

Women Cell, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organised a lecture on “Women Empowerment, Fight Cancer and Save Environment”

Women Cell, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organised a lecture on “Women Empowerment, Fight Cancer and Save Environment” by renowned personalities of Inner Wheel Club on 15th March, 2023.They discussed how vital it is to empower women at every level. They emphasized on the increasing problem of cervical cancer as well as discussed the ways to avoid it. Not only this, they also made aware the students about the importance of the environment and the need to protect it. Dr. Satinder Nijjar , the District Chairman of  Inner Wheel Club, has taken an initiative  through Car Rally namely “ Tejaswini” and other members Apeksha Garg, Megha Bansal , Seema Kapoor, Sujata Ahuja, Pooja Goel,Anju Kapoor and PDC Shashi Kir happily lend their hand for the same. Indeed, it is going to help everyone in a long run. Principal Dr (Mrs) Mukti Gill expressed her gratitude to the members for such an informative and thought provoking session. 

KCW organizes a PowerPoint Presentation activity to celebrate International Pi Day, March 14, 2023

 PG Department of Mathematics of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, enlightened  the students about the importance of  Pi  through a PowerPoint  presentation. Students were acquainted with the history and importance of  Pi in real life and were made aware that the significance of Pi day goes beyond just celebrating  a mathematical constant.

Pi day provides an opportunity to promote mathematics education and awareness, celebrate the beauty of mathematics and inspire creativity. This day also marks the birth anniversary of famous scientist Albert Einstein. Principal Dr Mukti Gill appreciated the efforts for organising such valuable lectures beneficial for students.

International Women’s Day 2023

The Department of Psychology, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized an awareness drive to mark the International Women’s Day celebrated on March 9th, 2023.

The drive, in and around the college, focused on spreading the theme of #EmbraceEquity through brochures made by the volunteers, explaining the importance of equity, equality, embracing diversity and inclusion of all sects of women as equals in the society. They offered ways of starting towards an equitable future by taking simple steps like allowing expressions of vulnerability in men and supporting driven women.

A video on ‘DigitALL – Innovation and Gender Equality for all’, under the ageis of United Nations, was also curated out of all these brochures and circulated amongst the entire college, to spread awareness about the women in Digital world and how to empower them, by making people aware of the basic but important terms of today’s times. The QR code for this Youtube video was put on the brochures for easy access to the citizens of the nearby markets where the brochures were put on display during the awareness drive.

The volunteers spread the message of women empowerment and the importance of an equitable future of the society. They distributed and put on display the informative brochures in and around the college. The citizens gave a positive response by interacting with the volunteers and having meaningful discussions on the topic.

The Principal appreciated the effort of the students and the department in spreading the message of embracing equity and creating awareness about innovation and technology for all in the community through the brochures, the video and the awareness drive. 

KCW Shine in University and Inter University Rowing Competition

Khalsa College for Women Civil Lines Ludhiana , Girls Shine in P.U Inter College Rowing that was held at Panjab University Chandigarh from 9 March to 10 March 2023. Team got 4 Gold Medals, 4 Bronze Medals. Gurpreet kaur, Easha Maurya, Anjani Kumari, Ramandeep Kaur won Gold & Bronze Medals. Easha Maurya,Anjani Kumari won Bronze Medals in All India Inter University.P.U   Rowing team begged overall championship in AIIU 2023.

KCW students achieved position in M.A.(FINE ARTS) 1st  Semester

The students of Khalsa College for women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana have achieved outstanding results in M.A. 1st  year 1st  Semester results of which were declared by Punjab University on March 10th , 2023. Eleven students of the college placed their names in Ten University Positions. Bhumika Arora and Shreya Jain has bagged 2nd University Position by scoring 372/400 marks 93%), Ishita Jaidka  has been placed 3rd position in University with 370/400 marks (92.5%), Divya Jain  got 4th Position in University with 368/400 marks (92%), Harmanjot Kaur  bagged 5th Position in University with 364/400  marks (91%), Mehak Singh bagged 6th position in the university by scoring 361/400  marks (90.25%) . Divya Uppal bagged 7th position in the university by scoring 360/400  marks (90%). Riya Jain bagged 8th position in the university by scoring 358/400  marks (89.5%) . Muskan Jain bagged 9th position in the university by scoring 357/400  marks (89.25%). Tanya Matta and Khushi Chopra has bagged 10th position in the university by scoring 356/400  marks (89%) .   All other students who had appeared in the examination have secured more than 85% marks. The prestigious managing Committee Congratulated Madam Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill and the staff of the Fine Arts  Deptt.  for their sincere efforts in generating excellent results. They applauded the students for maintaining the tradition of the college in clinching Top University Positions and also wished them luck to continue to scale greater heights in life.

Skill Enhancement Workshop on Beauty & Makeup

Career Coaching Cell of Khalsa College For Women, civil Lines, Ludhiana in association with District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises organized a Skill Enhancement Workshop On Beauty & Makeup on 7th march 2023 in sync with the initiative of Y20 –empowering Youth for better tomorrow. Around 20 students of Beauty & Wellness and Cosmetology visited the office of District Bureau where they got hands on training in various make up techniques by professional makeup artists. The students got to know about various avenues and career options in the makeup industry and abreast themselves with the various nuances of makeup techniques.

To salute the Women power, 13 students from Fine arts Department participated in the poster making competition organized to celebrate the International Women’s day at the office of District Bureau . Muskaan Jain, Riya Jain, Tanya Matta of M.A Ist ( Fine Arts) got First, Second and Third Prize respectively. The guest speaker Ms. Upinderjeet Kaur Brar, AC (GA) CMFO Ludhiana congratulated all the participants and motivated them by stressing on the need of goal setting to achieve success in life. The event culminated with the presentation of certificates to all the participants.

The Principal Dr.(Mrs) Mukti Gill applauded the efforts of the Career Coaching Cell and further encouraged the students to attend such programs to stay updated and informed to achieve success in career.

KCW GIRLS SHINE IN MSC(IT) 3rd Semester EXAMINATIONS

The students of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana have achieved outstanding results in M.Sc (Information Technology) 3rd  semester examinations, results of  which were declared by Panjab University, Chandigarh. Manmeet Kaur  has bagged 1st  position in University by scoring  91.2 per cent marks while Sukhdeep Kaur  has clinched 4th position in University by scoring  88.4 per cent marks. Khushpreet Kaur has  clinched 7th position in  University  by scoring 88 per cent marks and Priyanka has bagged 10th position in university by scoring 86.4 per cent marks.All the students who appeared for the exam attained First Division.

Topper of the college attributed her success to her hard work and punctuality. Besides this she remarked, that efforts of her faculty members coupled with the blessings and support of her parents and the college Principal  have played an important role in her success.

Er. Pritpal Singh Grewal, President, managing committee congratulated the College Principal and the staff of Computer Science Department for their sincere efforts in generating excellent results. He applauded the students for maintaining the tradition of the college in clinching top university positions and also wished them luck to continue scaling greater heights in future.
