Excalibur Entrepreneurship Fest 2023 was organized on March 10, 2023 at Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana. The fest was organized by the College’s Social Entrepreneurship, Sanitation and Rural Development Cell and Entrepreneurship Cell in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Education Council [Department of Higher Education Ministry of Education Government of India]. Professor Rajesh Kumar, Project Associate, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Education Council, Ministry of Education, Government of India attended the occasion as the chief guest. Along with this, Dr. Daisy Batish, Professor Department of Botany Panjab University Chandigarh also graced the event. The chief guest was warmly welcomed by the Principal of the college Dr. Mukti Gill and the teachers on reaching the college campus.
The main objective of this fest was to develop entrepreneurial qualities and entrepreneurial skills among young girl students. About 50 stalls were set up by the girl students on the occasion. These stalls were of various delicacies and art works made by hand, various plants and gardening related items. Along with this, stalls related to fashion and craft were also set up. The girl students enthusiastically participated in this fest and learned the qualities of a successful entrepreneur by selling their products very beautifully.
College Principal Dr. Mukti Gill congratulated Dr. Kamaljit Kaur Grewal Nodal Officer, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Education Council and the organizers of this fest for their commendable efforts and further added that such fests are very useful for the girl students as they enhance the qualities of an entrepreneur.
Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, under the patronage of Rotary Club, Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana, organized the installation ceremony of the students crowning them the office bearers of Rotaract Club. Rtn. S Jagmohan Singh, President Rotary Club of Ludhiana, along with esteemed members and guests of Rotary Club Ludhiana graced the event. On the occasion, the students were apprised about the objectives of the club that is self development of youngsters through service to community, inculcate in them the skills and leadership qualities and enable them to comprehend the needs and concerns of the society. The President further deliberated upon the four way test of the things we think, say or do . Students were motivated to take up issues such as water conservation and discarding the use of plastic by spreading awareness. The students were further advised to adhere to the Motto of Rotary Club- “Service before Self” and be the ambassadors of positive change.

applauded the office bearers and Teacher Incharge Ms. Harveen, HOD Sociology, for the initiative. While addressing she motivated the students to participate in the welfare activities enthusiastically to support the downtrodden, to educate the ignorant and to create a harmonious environment for a better tomorrow.
Students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Biotechnology, Khalsa College for Women, Civil lines, Ludhiana brought laurels to the college in Panjab University Ist and Vth Semester examination – December 2022. Kashika Aggarwal and Amandeep Kaur secured 7th & 9th position in the University by obtaining 412 and 404 marks out of 500 respectively in the Ist semester. Whereas Kashish Mittal of Vth semester bagged 3rd position in university by securing 458 marks out of 500. The college management congratulated Principal, faculty members and the students for their achievement and motivated them for future endeavors.
The students of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana have achieved outstanding results in M.Sc (Information Technology) 1st semester examinations, results of which were declared by Panjab University, Chandigarh. Aarti Kapoor has bagged 2nd position in University by scoring 85.83 per cent marks while Diksha Sharma has clinched 6th position in University by scoring 84.5 per cent marks.Harleen Narang has clinched 7th position in University and scored 84 per cent marks and Navjot Kaur has clinched 8th position in university by scoring 83.3 percent marks. Sonali has bagged 10th position in university by scoring 82.66 per cent marks. All the students who appeared for the exam attained First Division.
Topper of the college, Aarti Kapoor attributed her success to her hard work and punctuality. Besides this she remarked, that efforts of their faculty members coupled with the blessings and support of her parents and the college Principal have played an important role in her success.
Er. Pritpal Singh Grewal, President, managing committee congratulated the College Principal and the staff of Computer Science Department for their sincere efforts in generating excellent results. They applauded the students for maintaining the tradition of the college in clinching top university positions and also wished them luck to continue scaling greater heights in future.
Sheela Garg and Naina from Department of Political Science, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana brought laurels to the college by bagging first and fifth position respectively in MA (Political Science) 1st semester Panjab University Exams held in December,2022. Principal Dr. Mukti Gill congratulated them and the teachers.
Students of Khalsa College For Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana once again came up with an outstanding performance in
M.Sc ( Maths)Sem I examination conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh .In the results declared on March 3,2023 Rattandeep Kaur nad Taniya Arora bagged the fourth and Sixth University position with 90.4% and 87.4% marks.Also Sanjogita got third position in college with 77.2% marks.However the overall result marked out with 4 distinctions and 6 first divisions.
Position holders gave the credit of their success to regular studies and efforts put by them and the teachers.

The 62ndAnnual Athletic Meet of Khalsa College for Women, Civil lines, Ludhiana concluded in true sports spirit on March 4, 2023. S. Gursimran Singh Grewal, Treasurer, Khalsa Deewan, presided over the function. The guest was accorded a warm welcome by Madam Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill, entire staff and the students at his arrival in the college premises.
The guest of honour took the salute of the March Past being performed by students pursuing various courses. The participants proved their mettle in various final sports events including 100 mtr. 200mtr. Race, Relay Race, Obstacle Race, and Sack Race etc.
Acknowledging the achievements of students in the sports sector Madam Principal, while reading the Annual Report of the college highlighted that KCW stars bagged rich treasures of 34 Gold Medals, 13 Silver and 42 Bronze Medals this year in various sports competitions. She further added that our sportspersons reaped rich dividends in the form of cash prizes of approx. Rs. 1,29,000 in various sports competitions. She expressed immense gratitude to the members of Management of the college for their consistent cooperation in every way. She had a word of appreciation for the consistent efforts put in by Physical Education Department under the stewardship of Dr. Mandeep Kaur (Head of Physical Education Department) and the coaches. She thanked all the guests, for gracing the occasion, sparing their valuable time and making this event a great success.
Addressing the audience, the guest for the occasion discussed the importance of sports in life. He further, said that the commendable achievements made by the students speak volumes of the efforts put in by the Physical Education Department of the college. Acknowledging the budding talents, he awarded accolades to the winners.
Towards the culmination of the function, the soul of Panjabi Culture, Giddha and Gatka Art were presented before the audience and the Guest announced the closing of Athletic Meet. Kamaljeet Kaur M.A II History was declared the Best Athlete of the college andShamma Parveen B.A I was declared the Best Player of the year. The event met its conclusion with the beats of National Anthem.
Department of Zoology, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana in collaboration with Mahendra Chaudhary Zoological Park, Chhatbir organized an online awareness session on the occasion of World Wildlife Day, 3rd March, 2023. The theme of World Wildlife Day is “Partnerships for Wildlife Conservation”. The honorary speaker for the session was Ms. Kalpana K, IFS Officer from the 2014 batch, Director of Mahendra Chaudhary Zoological Park, Chhatbir. Ms. Kalpana has played a key role in the conservation of the Harike Sanctuary and Wetland and Abohar Wildlife Sanctuary. Dr. Rupinder Kaur welcomed and introduced the speaker to the audience. Ms. Kalpana K started the talk by informing the students on how important it was to work along with the NGO’s, Scientists, Students and all the other stakeholders to achieve success by considering the theme of day. She also explained about the gharial reintroduction programme where Chhatbir zoo served as the scientific manager and proved to be a great example linking in situ and ex situ conservation. Later she walked the students through a series of slides that helped them to understand the functioning of a zoo and how they play an important role in conservation of biodiversity. She further took pride in putting forward the achievements and facilities provided by the Chhatbir zoo and also listed a list of livestock, endangered species, exotic species and various other animals being protected in the zoo under the wildlife protection act of India. The very informative session programme was concluded by Dr. Megha Kansal with a vote of thanks to the speaker and the education officer of the Zoo Mr. Harpal Singh. It played the perfect part in making all realize that the Zoos plays a key role in protection, conservation and scientific breeding of species. Moreover, it also fulfilled the agenda of making students aware about animal adoption. The Zoology Department, Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana should continue hosting such sessions for the awareness and improvement of knowledge in the students. Principal Dr Mukti Gill appreciated the efforts of Dr Monita Dhiman, HOD Zoology and the faculty members and congratulated for the great success of the event.
Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, inaugurated two-day Annual Athletic Meet on March 3, 2023. Eminent Sports personality S. Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal, Arjuna Awardee (Athletics), graced the event as chief guest. S. Teja Singh Dhaliwal, General Secretary, Punjab Basketball Association was among the esteemed guests of the day. The Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill, the college Managing Committee and the students extended a warm welcome at the arrival of the guests in the college premises. Madam Kushal Dhillon, Member Managing Committee, KCW, also graced the occasion. The meet kick started with the march past by the students. The guest of the occasion by taking the salute of march past and hoisting flag declared opening of the Athletic Meet. Balloons of various hues rose merrily towards the sky mesmerizing the spectators and spreading the message to the participants to reach for the sky in their efforts. An oath to uphold the spirit of true sportsmanship was also administered by the students. In his address S. Balwinder Singh, highlighted the importance of sports in life and added that apart from commemorating victories, sports events also impart lessons on discipline, sportsman spirit and camaraderie. Power packed Zumba and Martial Art show performances were delivered by the students while spreading the message of health and fitness. Student Council also took out a rally observing the theme and objectives of G20 Presidency spreading a message of inculcating values and ethics for sustainable development.
A unique display of stamina, competitive spirit and precision was showcased as participants strove to prove their best in various sports events which included 50-meter race, Spoon and Potato Race, Javelin Throw, Shot Put, High Jump, Long Jump, Three-legged race etc. The day was filled with exciting victories.
Certificate of Appreciation presented to Khalsa College for Women for submitting wonderful video on “Karigari (skill) and karobari (Entrepreneurship)” in the months of February 2023 and promoting Student Self Help groups in college.
