NSS Special Seven Day Camp – Day 2

NSS camp continued on the 2nd day with lots of enthusiasm , energy & devotion. In the morning session, Former Professor of KCW civil lines, Ludhiana Mrs. Sunita Bhagat instructed volunteers in Lungs related Yogasanas and motivated them to perform and adapt yoga in our daily routine. Further “Best out of waste activity in which volunteers showcased their talent and created productive items. Simran Sushma Neha created Bird feeder & won 1st prize. Amandeep, Srishti and Prachi prepared puffy & were awarded 2nd prize. Vidhya, Rinki and Ritika formed rug using Saree and won 3rd prize. Consolation prize was given to Ishita who made Ganesh Ji. Lunch was provided to students and staff members in the afternoon. The evening  session was facilitated by resource. Persons from Art of Living Foundation which is volunteer based Humanitarian and educational non governmental organization. It was founded in 1981 by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. The foundation has its centres in 180 countries. Mr. Abhey Khosla and Ms. Sumandeep Kaur who are specialized in Mind and stress Management are certified yoga and fitness coaches. With their combined experience , the session helped volunteers to meditate and connect with themselves in the hustle and bustle of today’s society. The day ended with multiple fun activities and National Anthem. Volunteers departed with a huge smile on their faces.

NSS Special Seven Day Camp- Day 1

14 January 2023 marked the inauguration of annual NSS Special seven day camp which began at Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana based on “ Swaccha Bharat Abhiyan and Fit India Campaign”.To seek the blessings of God Shabad “Deh Shiva Var Mohe hai” was recited followed by NSS song by NSS volunteers. The Chief Coordinator Principal Dr. Mrs Mukti Gill inaugurated and addressed the volunteers with her kind and warm words. The Programme Officer Mrs. Vibha Jain shared brief report regarding NSS activities conducted the by the college NSS volunteers. A brief introduction of entire Camp, NSS symbol, Motto , its objectives and aim were vividly shared amongst volunteers. A quick ice breaker activity was conducted which gave them a podium to represent themselves and further aided them to choose the best Committees (Discipline, Refreshment, mess, editorial and cultural) making camp even more organized. To keep up the energy levels of the volunteers , Lunch was served. Following the aim and motto of the camp, Cleanliness drive was organized in college ground , with NSS volunteers being the active participants of the same. Some laughter exercises were performed by volunteers in the evening session. The Day ended with the National Anthem. 

GYM INAUGURATION BY MS. NIRMAL RISHI AT KCW

In order to maintain the physical well being of staff and students, a gym has been inaugurated in the campus of Khalsa College for Women Civil Lines Ludhiana on Dec 26, 2022. This initiative has been taken up the Physical Education Department which will benefit not only staff but the students also. For this occasion the Ex-Heads of the department Madam Ms. Nirmal Rishi, Ms. Amarjit Kaur and Dr.Sukhpal Kaur were invited. Member of managing committee Ms. Kushal and Ms. Manmeet  also became the part of the event.

Madam Principal Dr.(Mrs.) Mukti Gill appreciated the initiative taken up by the department and acknowledged the support extended by the managing committee for providing this facility in the college campus.

A Tribute to the Great Mathematician Ramanujan by Maths Department of KCW

PG Department of Mathematics of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, gave a warm tribute to Mathematical Wizard Srinivasa Ramanujan to celebrate his 135th birth anniversary. In an attempt to make community aware about the great  legacy of our country, series of activities depicting  the life, achievements and contributions of Srinivasa Ramanujan were conducted at various schools. Through life history of Srinivasa Ramanujan ,students were motivated to solve problem in their lives bravely. Bookmarks showing his life history were  also distributed. Students of Malwa Khalsa Girls Senior Secondary School also visited the college campus. Nearly  200 students benefited through these events.

Students were apprised of various future prospects of the subject.

ADOPTION OF ANIMALS AT LUDHIANA ZOO BY KCW

Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana considering the need to sensitize our students towards wildlife conservation adopted some animals in Ludhiana zoo. The students of Department of Zoology under the guidance of Dr Monita Dhiman, Head of the Department collected donation from the students and staff of the college and donated to the Ludhiana Zoo authorities on 21st December. The Students organized various rallies to spread a message about the importance of animal adoption to support for wildlife conservation. As zoos are involved in captive breeding programs for endangered species and other conservation projects all of which need the support of the people. The animals adopted in Ludhiana zoo by KCW are one Black Buck, two Pheasants and one Dove. The Principal Dr. Mukti Gill, handed over the contributed amount to Mr. Narinder Singh, Incharge of Ludhiana Zoo. Students showed enthusiasm for this extended activity organized by the department and contributed generously towards the cause. Mr. Narinder Singh made an appeal that people should come forward for donation for the animals empowering us to conserve and save wildlife which is an integral part of human race.

 Principal Dr (Mrs) Mukti Gill also appreciated the efforts and love of students and staff of the department for wildlife and encouraged them to continue such great activities in future also.

Outstanding Performance of KCW In District Level Competition of RED RIBBON CLUB

Red Ribbon Club volunteers of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana performed extremely well in District Level Competition organised by Youth Services, Ludhiana and Punjab State AIDS control Society, Chandigarh  held at BCM College of Education, Ludhiana on 7 December,2022. Total four volunteers of Red Ribbon Club participated in this competition out of which two students have won the prizes in different categories namely:

1.       Slogan writing Competition: Sukhampreet Kaur (First Prize)

2.       Poster Making Competition: Aarzoo Khurana (Second Prize)

          (Dr) Mrs. Mukti Gill appreciated the efforts of the nodal officer Ms Sheetal Soi and Red Ribbon Club volunteers for their outstanding achievements. She motivated the volunteers to keep up their good work in future too.

5 Day Faculty Development Program Commences at KCW

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organizes Five
Day Faculty Development Program on, “ Quality Enhancement of Institutions of Higher Learning:
Transformational Role of NEP 2020. The five-day program is designed to apprise the faculty about
various aspects of NEP 2020. Illustrious academicians from renowned institutions of higher learning
would be delivering lectures targeting the different areas of NEP 2020.
Prof. Ashutosh Kumar, Ex Honorary Director, UGC-HRDC, Panjab University, Chandigarh was the
resource person on day one of the programs. He provided valuable insights into the nuances of
Educational policy. Addressing the faculty Prof. Ashutosh deliberated upon the aim of NEP 2020, which
is to make India a leader globally in the field of learning and Education. He further emphasized the
revival of the Indian Education System to match its rich heritage and history of education. He also
pointed out the need of bridging the rural/urban education divide and giving opportunities to the
marginalized sections of society to empower and enable them to have employment. Higher enrolment
in the institutes of higher learning, research-oriented education, and focus on Skill enhancement, and
vocational courses, were some of the high points of the session on day one. In the highly productive
session, he also discussed the multidisciplinary approach to education, flexibility in syllabus, and the need for linguistic skill enhancement.
Several participants were enriched on the NEP, 2020. The lecture concluded with an interactive
session. The Principal Dr. Mukti Gill applauded the efforts of IQAC Coordinator Dr. Priyanka Khanna.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF DISABLED PERSONS

The Counselling Cell of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized an awareness drive on 3rd December 2022 to mark the ‘International Day of Disabled Persons with the theme of ‘Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation fueling an accessible and equitable world. This video is highlighting the concept of invisible disabilities and has been circulated amongst the various student and staff groups of the college. Further, the volunteers of the KCW Counselling Cell spread this message in their neighborhoods and distributed the pamphlets so that the community could be sensitized towards the special needs of people with disability and how to incorporate certain habits and etiquette to make our world more inclusive.

One Day faculty Development Program held at KCW

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized one day faculty development program on “How to Design a Website for Teaching and Teacher Education?”.  The FDP aimed at addressing the contemporary concerns  in the domain of teaching and learning practices and enabled the teachers to upgrade online teaching process matching up to the times and needs of learners.

Dr. Nikhil Rajput, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Assistant Director of the Teaching Learning Centre, Ramanujan College, New Delhi, was the resource person of the program.  Dr. Rajput delivered a hands-on training session on the aspects of designing a webpage, adding sections and E- resources to Web page. The session was designed to train the faculty to learn requisite skills to plan, design and deliver content online. He also enlightened the participants about the nuances of online teaching and shared tips to bridge gaps between teacher and learner. He further shared tips on ways to develop content so as to make it engaging for the students. The program concluded with the interactive session wherein the queries of the participants were satisfactorily answered. Around 80 faculty members attended the FDP and reaped benefits.

The Principal Dr. Mukti Gill congratulated the IQAC Coordinator Dr. Priyaka Khanna for the initiative. She further added that such programs are significant to enhance and enrich the teaching learning experience of the faculty.

KCW Girls Bagged 5 Bronze Medals in Boxing PU Inter College 2022-23

KCW Boxing team participated in PU Inter College Tournament held at Sports Complex, Sec-42, Chandigarh held from 18 to 20 Nov 2022. Near about 18 College Participated in this Tournament. All players performed well and Ramandeep Kaur (48kg), Inderjeet Kaur (60kg), Lovely Kapoor (63kg),  Rupinder Kaur (66kg), and Ruchi (70kg) got Bronze Medals in different weight categories.
