KCW Girls Bagged Silver and Bronze Medals in PU Inter College 74th Annual Athletics Meet 2022-23

KCW Athletics team participated in PU Chandigarh Inter College Annual Athletics Meet held at Panjab University Chandigarh on dated 21st  to 23rd Nov, 2022. All players performed well Kamaljeet  Kaur got Silver Medal in Long Jump and Bronze Medal in Triple Jump, Manali Chauhan got Silver Medal in Triple Jump.

In addition to this Kamaljeet Kaur, Ashmina, Manali Chauhan and Veerpal Kaur got Bronze Medal in 4*100 M relay race.

Principal Dr.(Mrs.) Mukti Gill Congratulates to Dr. Mandeep Kaur (HOD) and her team for the great efforts. Mr. Sukhdev Singh Pannu ( Athletics Coach) was present on this prestigious time.

Celebration of Constitution Day

Department of Political Science, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana celebrated National Constitution Day also known as Law Day and Samvidhan Diwas on 23rd November 2022. A declamation contest was organized where the students shared their views highlighting the constitutional values as well as the significance of the day. They also recited poems related to the topic. The objective behind celebrating the day was to aware students of the uniqueness of the Indian constitution and reiterate and reorient them towards the values and principles expressed in the Indian Constitution.

KCW Celebrates ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’

The Department of Sociology along with the volunteers of Rotaract Club celebrated ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ on 20-april-2022, taking a dip into the various shades of two cultures from two states of the country. The paired state for Punjab under EBSB is Andhra Pradesh. The volunteers prepared a video presentation depicting the theme ‘Unity in Diversity’ and apprised the students about the culture, tradition and language of Andhra Pradesh by drawing contrast with Punjab’s culture and language. The presentation was shared across all platforms.

 EBSB is an initiative by the Government of India which aims to enhance interaction, promote cultural connect and mutual understanding among people from varied regions of the country.

The Principal Dr. Mukti Gill applauded the efforts of the volunteers and urged the students to enrich themselves with the knowledge of their nation’s rich cultural heritage.

Rotaract Club Ludhiana awarded scholarships to Merit holders at KCW

The Rotaract Club Ludhiana, North Zone in yet another humanitarian pursuit awarded scholarships to the bright students of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana. R.L Narang, president Rotary Club along with esteemed members of the club graced the corridors of KCW and awarded scholarships to 21 students giving wings to their dreams to soar high in life.   Each student was benefited with an amount of Rs.3000.

The members also delivered boxes of sanitary napkins to college Rotaract Club to be distributed among the needy.

The Principal Dr. Mukti Gill congratulated the students and urged them to work hard to reach for success. She also extended gratitude to the rotary club for their gesture of concern and compassion.

DRIVE AGAINST  DRUG ABUSE AND TREATMENT BY NSS VOLUNTEERS OF KCW 

The NSS unit of Khalsa College for Women civil lines Ludhiana organised massive public drive against drug prevention and substance abuse. The volunteers created awareness by visiting schools and public places against the usage of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs substances. They enthusiastically sensitised the youth and young children through charts ,brochures, slogans and posters depicting how the drugs can ruin their careers and life and bring hazardous  effect on their health. This was in compliance with the’ Declaration of drug prevention and treatment month’, declared by the District administration, Ludhiana with the guidelines to observe the month of November as month of prevention substance abuse. The awareness drive was carried within the college campus also .The students made posters and slogans against drug abuse and inspired students to say ‘no to drugs ‘when offered in any form.

The principal Dr (Mrs) Mukti Gill awared the students regarding the harmful effects of drugs on health and society and encouraged the NSS volunteers to participate with vigour for more such noble causes in future.

Report On Webinar – FINANCIAL DATA ANALYSIS

PG Department of Commerce, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized a Webinar on FINANCIAL DATA ANALYSIS to enlighten the students about the relevance of financial statements and their analysis and to gain an understanding of the financial position of the company. The workshop was organized keeping in view how Big data is revolutionizing the business and technical scenarios in the present era of modernization. Numerous financial events take place every day and the financial sector is greatly involved in the calculation of such events. She further helped the students identify the financial issues in which big data has an impact another important matter that this industry can discover and address with the impacts of business analytics in fintech. She emphasized that though a significant number of players in the market have started making use of big data, many companies are yet to explore its significance. This leads to uncountable financial transactions and the generation of a huge amount of data in the financial world daily.

The speaker of the day, Dr. D. Doreen Robin, director of Computational Intelligence Research Foundation (CIRF), Data Scientist and Machine and Deep Learning trainer, interacted with the students of B.Com & M.Com and explained them about the concept of Business Analytics and its importance in the changing business environment. She also briefed about the top ten business analytics tools like Qlikview, SAS BA, Splunk, TIBCO Spotfire, KINME etc. alongwith business analytics courses in India which the students can get enrolled with reputed universities like IIM, NIMMS, NIT Trichy, Great lakes etc. Dr. Robin beautifully engaged the students with short and quick games and quiz between the session She also made the students aware about wide range of career opportunities in this specific field. More than 300 final year students had attended this informative session and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill appreciated the efforts of department for organizing such an informative and interactive session for students.

Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign

KCW Counselling Cell, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized an ‘Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign’ on November 17th, 2022 to mark the ‘Drug Prevention and Treatment month’ as declared by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. The campaign was focused around creating awareness of the ill effects and harm caused by drug consumption. The informative brochures were prepared by the volunteers of the Counselling Cell regarding the easy ways to spot the signs of drug abuse in their loved ones, how and what to say to them, followed by the immediate ways they can adopt to offer help to the ones in need. The campaign was flagged off in the morning assembly where the students and staff were informed about various aspects of substance abuse.

Later a march was carried out in various areas of Civil Lines with students holding placards and the volunteers distributed easy-to-understand pamphlets to the public and had discussions about the taboo topic. The march was aimed at sensitizing the community, including the rickshaw drivers, shopkeepers, and the common folk. Brochures and informative leaflets were put on display inside and outside the shops of the market.

The campaign received a positive response and support from the people, who put in an effort to listen to and understand the simplified yet useful information being provided by the volunteers.

The Principal appreciated the efforts of the Counselling Cell in sensitizing the students and the staff of the college along with the community  regarding ill effects of drugs on one’s health and informing them of the ways to deal with menace of drug abuse.

KCW Shine in Khedan Vatan Punjab Diyan

The Sports Persons of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana brought laurels to the Institute by Participating in an event ‘Khedan Vatan Punjab Diyan’. The event began on 29-08-2022 at Jalandhar to mark the Birth Anniversary of Legend Major Dhyan Chand and Closeted on 17-11-2022 at Ludhiana.

The  Objective was to encourage and motivate the youngsters of the state to participate in sports for physical & mental well-being. Various sports events were organized at Block, District, and State level games. The students of the College participated in various events such as Athletics, Judo, Volleyball, Basketball, Softball Sports, etc. Students Clinched medals in various categories at all levels of the competitions, along with Cash Prizes.

The Principal Dr. Mukti Gill Congratulated the entire Department of Physical Education and Special Thanks to CM Bhagwant Singh Mann for Organize the Biggest Sports Events in Punjab and Shared that a sum of Rs. 1,29,000/- has been won by students under various events. She also applauded the sports persons for their brilliant performances.

Book Fair held at KCW

To mark National library week, the Library Committee of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized a two-day Book Fair on November16-17, 2022. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill inaugurated the fair. The books of distinguished writers and poets in English, Hindi, and Punjabi language were displayed by various publishers and sellers at the fair. The book fair offers a wide selection of books for students to choose from that they can look at before they decide to buy. A large number of students and faculty members visited the fair to enhance their knowledge. It was a great opportunity of having a varied choice of books. The main objective of this fair was to instill a love of reading in students that last a lifetime. The fair spreads the message that books are our best friends and companions that enlarge our vision and make our life more meaningful. The Principal and the management of the college applauded the efforts of the Library Committee and also encouraged the students to inculcate reading habits in them.

TRIBUTE TO SARDAR KARTAR SINGH SARABHA JI

On the martyrdom day of the Great freedom fighter -Sardar Kartar Singh Sarabha  Post Graduate Department of History of Khalsa College for Women, paid tribute to him by organising special lectures in all UG and PG History classes on 16th November,2022 .On this day study was dedicated to bring forth the extreme gallant of the young son who laid his life for the motherland.

Students also shared their views, poems on the contribution of Sardar Kartar Singh Sarabha.

The life and the contribution of the great freedom fighter was also shared digitally in all the groups of the students of the college.
