ELOCUTION COMPETITION AT KCW

The Department of Economics of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized 56th A.D Shroff Memorial Elocution Competition sponsored by Forum of Free Enterprise on 21th October 2022.The competition provided a platform to the students to think and speak on various economic issues besides enabling them to display their oratory skills. The function was presided over by Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill and Vice Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Iqbal Kaur. The judges of the competition were Dr.(Mrs.) Honey Walia (Dept. Of English) and Mrs. Shikha Verma (Dept. Of Computer Science). As many as 09 students participated in the competition and expressed their views on the topics: The menace of Increasing Cyber Crime and solution, Managing Economy During a Pandemic, Making India A $5 Trillion Economy by 2027( 80 years of independence), The Changing Role of International Finance in Developing Economics. The participants were judged on the basis of content, presentation and elocution. Gurleen from B.A III, Gagandeep Kaur from B.A I, Vanshika and Shruti Tandon from B.A II and B.A.III  were declared first, second and third respectively. One consolation prize were given to Teesha Goyal from B.A III. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill applauded the efforts of the Department and appreciated the students for presenting their thoughts on various issues. She motivated them to be the harbinger of change that they want to see in the world.

SEMINAR ON –“How to Prepare For Competitive Exams”

Career Coaching Cell of the Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized a Seminar on “How to Prepare For Competitive Exams” on 19th  October, 2022. The resource persons for the seminar were Mandeep singh and Tajinder kansal ( Directors, Kautilya civil services, Ludhiana). They apprised the students on the relevance of joining civil services in order to serve the nation. They informed about the pattern of the examination and highlighted the role of planning and preparing well to achieve their goals. They stressed upon the need of continuous preparation and time management to crack the exam.  They abreast the students with the format of various competitive exams, there various levels and division of qualifying marks. Ms. Divya Thakur Assist. Professor Department Of Economics gave the practical tips to the beginners about how they can initiate the preparation for various competitive exams. Students participated very enthusiastically in the interactive session as they cleared their doubts about various problems encountered in the preparation for the exams. The Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill applauded the efforts of the career coaching cell for organizing the  seminar and stressed on the need for the continuous up gradation to have an edge in the highly competitive job market.

DIWALI BONANZA

The festivity and fervor of festival of lights marked the Diwali exhibition put up on 20th October, 2022 in the campus of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized by the Fine Arts Dept. This humongous event was inaugurated by Sardarni Kushal Dhillon and the college Principal   Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill. A Magnificent exhibition in the form of 86 stalls showed the dispersible efforts of the students and teachers of Fine Arts Dept. of the college. The bonanza had diverse offerings to feast one’s Aesthetic sense and creativity on by way of Innovative envelops, captivating paintings, Stalls of Teddy Bear , Designer Suits, Exquisite Ornaments, Nail Arts, Mehndi, Handmade Chocolates and Cakes, Tarot Card, Best out of Waste, Decorative Handmade  Hanging, Photo Frame, Resin Art, Tiaras etc. There were also some stalls of fun games & the gardening club of college showcased the flowers bounty this promoting Green Diwali.

KCW students achieved position in M.A.(FINE ARTS) 1st year 2nd Semester- June 2022

The students of Khalsa College for women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana have achieved outstanding results in M.A. 1st year 2nd semester results of which were declared by Punjab University. Eight students of the college placed their names in Ten University Positions. Shivani has bagged 1st University Position by scoring 388/400 marks (97%%), Jaspreet Kaur has been placed 2nd position in University with 385/400 marks (96.25%), three students Sukhampreet, Shivani Kapoor and Shilpa got 3rd Position in University with 382/400 marks (95.5%), Manminder Kaur bagged 5th Position in University with 374/400 marks (93.5%), Amrit Kaur bagged 6th position in the university by scoring 372/400 marks (93%) and Aditi Mishra got 9th position with 368/400 marks (92%) . All other students who had appeared in the examination have secured more than 85% marks. The prestigious managing Committee Congratulated Madam Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill and the staff of the Fine Arts Deptt. for their sincere efforts in generating excellent results. They applauded the students for maintaining the tradition of the college in clinching Top University Positions and also wished them luck to continue to scale greater heights in life.

KCW GIRLS SHINE IN PGDCA 2nd Semester EXAMINATIONS

The students of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana have achieved outstanding results in PGDCA 2nd semester examinations, results of which were declared by Panjab University, Chandigarh. Palak Singla has bagged 1st position in University by scoring 94.4 per cent marks while Gurleen Kaur has clinched 2ndposition in University by scoring 94.3 per cent marks. Anjali has clinched 7th position in University and scored 91.9 per cent marks while Nancy scored 10th position with 91.4 per cent marks.

Toppers of the college, Palak Singla, Gurleen Kaur, Anjali, and Nancy attributed their success to their hard work and punctuality. Besides this they remarked, that efforts of their faculty members coupled with the blessings and support of their parents and the college Principal have played an important role in their success.

Er. Pritpal Singh Grewal, President, managing committee congratulated the College Principal and the staff of Computer Science Department for their sincere efforts in generating excellent results. They applauded the students for maintaining the tradition of the college in clinching top university positions and also wished them luck to continue scaling greater heights in future. 

EDUCATIONAL TRIP TO RADIO STATION

The English Department of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organized an educational field trip to AIR FM Gold 100.1 channel Ludhiana for the students of Radio Journalism on October 19, 2022. The students had an interactive session with the studio Incharge, Mr.Navdeep Singh and the technical staff. He apprised the students of the various aspects of Radio Journalism. The students also got an opportunity to attend a live programme RJ Rini. They also learnt about the process of writing for radio as well as the handling and operation of technical equipment’s used in Radio Broadcast.

Ramanpreet Kaur a student of B.A II Functional English also recorded for the radio program titled’ ‘Youth Forum’. She spoke about Seven famous cities of manufacturing industry of Punjab. This program was a segment under the celebrations “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”. She also earned first wages for working for Radio.

The Principal Dr. Mukti Gill congratulated the students and urged them to gain on experiential training on  such platforms as it will help them in  their confidence building. She also encouraged the staff to organize more of such educational trips for the students.

Drive Safe Awareness Campaign by KCW

Traffic Club of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized ‘Drive Safe Awareness Campaign’ to observe World Trauma Day on 19th October, 2022. Students pasted stickers of ‘Obey Traffic Rules, Save Lives’ on two-wheelers to spread the message that obeying traffic rules reduces the risks of accidents. Students also took pledge to be safe drivers to ensure the safety of themselves and others also. 

NCC Cadets of Khalsa College for Women Became Part of Puneet Sagar Abhiyan

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched ‘Swatch Bharat Mission’ in 2014 with the aim to achieve universal sanitation and keeping our water bodies clean is a crucial step towards the attainment of this mission. Joining hands for this national cleanliness campaign, a total of 75 cadets from Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, along with Government College for Girls and  Sacred Heart Convent School conducted an event under the banner ‘Puneet Sagar Abhiyan’ on 19th October 2022.  NCC cadets visited Sidhwan Canal (via Dugri Flyover and New Jawaddi Flyover), a water stream which passes through Ludhiana district and is becoming a waste dumping water body in recent time. The objectives of drive were to spread awareness amongst nearby residents regarding ill effects of dumping waste in canal, collecting the plastic waste, offering unending support and contribution to various government agencies.

The campaign was undertaken under the stewardship of Col. Aman Yadav (Commanding Officer, 3 Punjab Girls Bn. NCC Ludhiana), College Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill and Associate NCC Officer Capt. (Dr.) Paramjeet Kaur. The cadets indulged into various activities during their visit such as awareness rally in the nearby areas, spreading one to one awareness regarding the segregation of dry waste and wet waste, presentation of cleanliness theme with charts and slogans display etc. Young cadets urged the residents surrounding the canal to keep it garbage free and respect this water source. The campaign successfully created awareness on ill effects of dumping plastic waste in canal, right technique of waste disposal, waste segregation and cleanliness of the surroundings. The common message of ‘Swachh Bharat’ and ‘Puneet Sagar Abhiyan’ was disseminated among masses via this programme.

 College Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill appreciated the efforts put in by NCC department. She applauded cadets for their sincere efforts and motivated them to keep their nearby water bodies clean and safe. She also briefed the cadets about creative disposal of plastic waste in the form of recycling and utilizing the same in building and construction sectors and making use of environment friendly materials.

KCW WINS OVERALL TROPHY AT TECHNOTHON-2022

The students of Department of Computer Science of Khalsa College for Women participated in Technothon 2022 – an Inter-College School competition organized by GGN Khalsa College, Ludhiana on Oct 15, 2022. As many as 300 students from 15 colleges & 15 schools participated in the event. The students brought laurels to the college by winning overall Trophy as well as prizes in 6 out of 9 events.

The results were as follows:

  • Sara Ghai won 2nd prize in IT Quiz.
  • Rishita Raj Purshit bagged 1st prize in Logo Designing.
  • Khushpreet Kaur & Ravleen Kaur bagged 1st prize in Web Development.
  • Dolly Diwakar won 3rd prize in Swift Surfer.
  • Anjali Louremban won 2nd prize in Typing Master.
  • Neha Rawat & Divpreet Kaur won 3rd prize in Code Development.

KCW Organizes E-Waste Awareness Drive

Strengthening its commitment towards addressing the perils of E-Waste, Department of Computer Science, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana in collaboration with Recycling Villa, kick started one week E-waste awareness drive at KCW. (14th October 2022 – 20th October 2022).

The team {General Manager: – Mr. Mohd Tosif., Administration Head: – Miss Diksha Patiyal. Other team members: – Navjot sidhu (Business Representative),Mr. Hardeep Singh ( Collection Representative) } from Recycling Villa conducted interactive sessions with the students and informed them about the E-waste hazards to the environment and Human Health and thereby informed them about the importance of scientific disposal of E- waste. They also acquainted the students about the various recycling processes being carried out at Recycling Villa- The first E-waste recycling plant in Ludhiana. 

The team also exhibited recycled products and enlightened the students regarding the uses of these recycled products.

The students contributed in the drive by bringing e-waste from their homes for collection and scientific disposal.
