Hindi Day Celebration

Hindi Diwas was organized on 14 September 2022 at Khalsa College for Women, Civil Line Ludhiana. On this auspicious occasion, a calligraphy competition was organized by the Department of Hindi. 73 students participated in the competition. On the auspicious occasion of Hindi Diwas, Principal Dr. Mukti Gill inspired the students to love the Hindi language.

The first place in this competition went to Leena of B.A. II year. The second prize went to Deepika, a third-year student. Third prize was given to first-year student of B.A. Sneha Kaushal. Khushi Tiwari B.A. II-year student was given an incentive award.

Principal Dr. Mukti Gill Ji, and Dr. Iqbal Kaur (Punjab Department) Mandeep Kaur (Sanskrit Department) made four moons in this competition with her valuable contribution.

World Suicide Prevention Day Celebrated at KCW

The Department of Psychology and KCW Counselling Cell, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines Ludhiana organized a Chart Making Competition and Mental Health Drive to mark World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10. The drive focused on spreading awareness regarding suicide prevention on the theme “Creating Hope through Action”.

The drive was flagged off in the morning assembly with a dramatic presentation on the significance of choosing life amidst turbulent times. In another activity, a Chart making Competition was held in which 21 teams participated and the winners were awarded certificates. The Judge for the event was Ms. Palak Jain Bhumbla, Clinical Psychologist and Fortis Certified Expressive Art & Movement Therapist. These charts provided tips and necessary information required to deal with depression and negative feelings and spread awareness regarding suicide prevention The students were equipped with tips to deal with suicidal tendencies and how to manage themselves and others around them.

 The volunteers of the counseling cell played an active role in spreading awareness regarding healthy coping measures through brochures and posters. The aim was to normalize asking for help and to create hope amidst the chaos of general life. Later, the volunteers made a symbolic gesture towards providing help to distressed individuals by standing in a giant “S” holding informative placards symbolizing awareness regarding Suicide Prevention.

Further, all volunteers were given the task to spread this message of hope amidst the community by talking personally to five people each, from their family and friends. They also distributed informative brochures about early warning signs and how to extend timely help.

The Principal, Dr. Mukti Gill appreciated the descriptive charts and brochure made by the students to spread this message for the good of the whole community.

KCW students bagged position in M.A.(FINE ARTS) 4th Semester July 2022 Results

The students of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana have achieved outstanding results in M.A. 2nd year 4th Semester, which were declared by Punjab University on September 6th, 2022. Five students of the college placed their names in Ten University Positions. Pooja has bagged 1st University Position by scoring 1549/1600 marks (96.8%), Chitwan Kaur has been placed 2nd position in University with 1546/1600 marks (96.6%), Pooja got 3rd Position in University with 1528/1600 marks (95.5%), Mohini bagged 4th Position in University with 1501/1600 marks (93.8%), Monika bagged 7th position in the university by scoring 1463/1600 marks (91.4%). All other students who appeared in the examination secured more than 85% marks. The prestigious managing Committee Congratulated Madam Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill and the staff of the Fine Arts Dept. for their sincere efforts in generating excellent results. They applauded the students for maintaining the tradition of the college in clinching Top University Positions and also wished them luck to continue to scale greater heights in life.

Red Ribbon Club “Quiz Competition” at KCW

On 10th September 2022 a quiz competition was organized by the Red Ribbon Club of Khalsa College for Women, to create awareness about the menace of Drug Abuse, AIDS, Tuberculosis, and the importance of Blood Donation in our prevalent society.

25 students participated in the quiz contest, of which 3 students – Muskan, Vedehi Dhir, and Manmeet Kaur Dua- were adjudged as the contest winners. A participation certificate was accorded to the students who participated in the activity. Students from B.A, B.Sc. Medical and Non-Medical took an active part in this activity.

The Charge of the club, Ms. Sheetal Soi (Head of Department of Office Management) along with Ms. Sangeeta (Head of Department of Physics) and Ms. Monika (Head of Department of Biotech) appreciated their initiative by the Principal of the college. 

TALENT HUNT

The Department of Music Vocal in collaboration with the Department of Music Instrumental, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organised Talent Hunt, an Inter-Class Musical Competition to showcase the hidden talent of students under the superb guidance of Dr. Reema Sharma (H.O.D- Music Vocal) on 07-09-2022. The highlight of the program was the enthusiastic participation of the students from all the Streams. About 18 budding artists of the college enthralled the audience with their mesmerizing performances in Vocal and Instrumental Music. The competition was hard enough to judge. College Principal appreciated the efforts done by the students and the faculty members of both the departments and emphasized the role of nurturing the talent of students.

Teachers Day Celebrations held at KCW

Students Council of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organized a program celebrating Teachers day in a very special way at the college auditorium. The objective was to acknowledge and thank for the efforts of the teachers to help their students design their destiny. A cultural bonanza was arranged by the student council singing praises about the relationship of students and teacher and how a teacher plays the most significant role in the life of a student.

Shruti , president of student council and her team recited self-composed poems while a group performed a group dance mesmerizing the audience. Songs dedicated to the teachers were also sung by the students. Kashish Mittal, another member of student council expressed gratitude towards teachers through her speech highlighting the role of teachers in transforming lives of the students.

The Principal congratulated the entire staff and applauded the efforts of the student council in arranging such a program expressing their love and respect for teachers.

KCW Rotaract club marks International Day of charity

International Day of Charity was celebrated by KCW Rotaract club at the college campus. The day commemorates the death anniversary of Mother Teresa, a towering personality, who dedicated herself to serve the poor and needy with love and kindness.

The volunteers of the club highlighted the significance of the day and also narrated some interesting facts about Mother Teresa’s life and work. The club members distributed sanitary napkins among the female support staff of KCW College.

The Principal applauded the efforts of the club members and motivated the students to inculcate values of love and kindness towards others.

KCW Biotech Outshines In PU Results

Students of B.Sc. (Hons.)Biotechnology, Khalsa College for Women, Civil lines, Ludhiana has once again brought laurels to the college in Panjab University VIth Semester examination –May 2022. Gurinder  Kaur Grewal secured 1st position in the University by obtaining 2809 marks out of 3000, Jaspreet Kaur bagged 2nd position by securing 2676/3000 marks and Mehak Kochar secured 10th position in university by obtaining 2600/3000 marks. The Management congratulated College Principal, faculty members, and the students for their glorious achievement and motivated them for future endeavors.

Self-Defence Programme held at KCW

A self-defence demonstration was organized by the Physical Education Department at Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines Ludhiana. College Taekwondo Coach Mr Narinder conducted the session wherein he apprised the students about various self defence techniques. He also highlighted the importance of learning self-defence and how it helps to counter negativity in the day-to-day life that makes them feel insecure. He further trained the staff and students about Height and Weight management techniques to combat unpleasant situations.

Officiating Principal Mrs Sangeeta Sharma applauded the efforts of the Department of Physical Education and emphasized that self defence should be made an integral part of the curricular to facilitate women safety in the country. 

Raunak Teeyan Di at KCW

The Corridors of KCW resonated with laughter and traditional beats as Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana celebrated ‘RaunakTeeyanDi’ to mark Teej Festival pursuing Punjabiyat fervor around the surroundings on August 17, 2022.

The day was marked with various cultural & Heritage display of handicrafts, traditional utensils, Bagh, phulkari, Darian, Sandhookh and traditional ornaments etc.  Sealing the attention of the guests and students the real image of ‘Punjabiyat’ was framed with decorated Charkhas and Pakhis. Mrs. Manmeet Kaur Grewal, Mrs. Ravinder Kaur Grewal and Dr. Ajit Kaur Kang, members of managing committee were among the esteemed guests of the day. The cultural extravaganza was also graced by the presence of the Principal Dr. Mrs. Mukti Gill, members of the Managing Committee and the retired teachers from different faculties. The girls wearing Traditional Punjabi Dresses, Paranda, and Jewellery, were the center of attraction.

In the cultural bonanza, Giddha and Bhangra were the highlights. Students also sang traditional songs and performed dance. Students participated in the event of ‘virasatikhedan’ and performed enthusiastically. They also enjoyed the Swings along with fun sports such as kikli, rope skipping, koklachapaki, geetekhedna, shatapu etc. A DJ stage was set up for the students to dance to the tunes of Punjabi songs enhancing fun and frolic of the event.

The stunning and illustrious stalls were put up in the college adding flavour to the to the occasion. Stalls of bangles, traditional jewellery, clothes and cosmetics along with stalls of corn, matka kulfi, Chuski, lime soda with many other delicacies of Punjabi culture were adorned with the motive to magnify the cultural Heritage of Punjab. The students got a chance to get acquainted with and appreciate the traditional handicrafts. The fragrance of fun and enjoyment pervaded in the atmosphere and it created some everlasting memories.

Revered Madam Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill, applauded the role of the organizers of the show and admired the energetic participation of the guests and the students and strengthened all of them to continue the journey of building up ‘Punjabiyat’ among the students. The event turned out to be a memorable one and gave it the shade of grand family celebrations.
