To make the students aware of the impact that mathematics has made on our lives, PG Department of Mathematics of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organised a Mathematics Power-Point presentation activity on various topics of day to day life. The topics of presentations were Story of Pi, Human Fastest Calculator, Golden ratio, Women Mathematicians and their contributions, Measures of Central Tendency, Tax, Set Theory, Mathematics in Architecture, Father of Mathematics, Matrices ,Mathematical achievers of Indian Origin Students were made aware of many invisible applications of Mathematics in our daily life in order to nurture certain qualities i.e. power of reasoning, creativity, abstract or spatial thinking and effective communication skills. Judges of the event were Mrs. Sangeeta Sharma, Head of Department of Physics and Mrs. Poonam Pathak, Head of Department of Economics, Prapti Sahnan and Tamanpreet kaur bagged first . Principal Dr. Mrs. Mukti Gill congratulated the winners and appreciated the efforts of teachers and students .

Community Mental Health Drive
MAKING MENTAL HEALTH & WELL-BEING FOR ALL A GLOBAL PRIORITY.
Khalsa College for Women Counselling Cell and Department of Psychology organized a Community Mental Health Drive and an Activity Based Workshop to mark the World Mental Health Day on October 10th, 2022 on the theme – “Making Mental Health & Well-Being For All A Global Priority”.
An informative lecture on the theme was delivered by the students in the morning assembly of the college to foster the importance of mental health in students. Informative brochures and a presentation on the theme, “Making Mental Health & Well-Being For All A Global Priority” were made by the volunteers of the Counseling Cell and circulated, both digitally and in person, amongst the students of the college. Each volunteer further talked about ensuring mental health and well-being through changes in lifestyle and attitude to at least five people in their family or neighborhood, thus spreading this message to the community at large.
More than 130 students participated in this drive aimed at spreading awareness about prevalence of mental health issues and willingness to talk about them, with the objective of dealing with a global crisis for mental health, combating short- and long-term stresses and the upliftment of general mental health.
Additionally, an Activity Based Workshop was organized by the Psychology Department in which the students were sensitized to classify the cases needing help. The participants felt related to the activities being performed and were inspired to work actively towards inculcating good habits and fostering positive mental health for them and for others around them.
An informative board was also prepared and displayed by the students to sensitize the college students and community at large.
The principal, Dr. Mrs Mukti Gill appreciated the efforts of the counselling cell in creating a world in which mental health is valued, promoted and protected; thereby creating an equal opportunity for all to access the mental health care they need.
Fresher’s Party held at KCW
Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized a magnificent fresher’s welcome party for the 1st year students of Humanities on October 8th, 2022 in the college campus. Jovial Smiles and high spirits marked the welcome party for the students. The party manifested youth and enthusiasm at its full flow. The ecstasy filled event gave the fresher’s an opportunity to showcase their talent and also a platform to interact with their seniors. The event saw many dazzling Performances by both seniors and juniors alike. The program kick-started with ramp walk in which many contestants vied for the Miss Fresher’s 2022 title. Apart from the cultural bonanza the contest included several rounds including ramp walk and question answer round which weaved magic of fun and joy into the event.
Garima won the Miss Fresher’s title. Tanu priya was declared first runner up while Rabia was announced second runner up. Besides there were seven other titles accorded to the students. Kanika won the title of beauty with brains and Diya won the title if sartorial Diva. The title of Miss dazzling Smile was given to Jiya and Hazel was crowned Miss Charming. Charu, Tamanna and Shruti Jain won titles of miss sparkling eyes, miss Ripunzel and miss Ramp on Fire respectively.
In the Masters category Mehak Kaur was crowned Miss Fresher while Ananyaand Kritka were declared first and second runners up respectively. The title of Miss sensational diva was bestowed upon Alisha Ali. The other titles were given to Arzoo for gorgeous gait and Palak Miss Confident.
The Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill blessed the students and encouraged them to work hard to achieve their endeavors. Finally the program ended on a musical note, leaving behind memories to cherish forever.
KCW celebrates World Space Week – 2022
“World Space Week” is celebrated by department of Physics, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, from 4th October onwards with Space and Sustainability as focal theme of the programme. The purpose of celebration is to spread information and knowledge about the benefits of space science and technologies among the student community. Throughout the week, students participate enthusiastically in all the events. The weeklong celebrations include the innovation speech by the students of BSc students, Namya, Vedehi, Ria and Ojasvi, describing how sustainability in space relate to how humanity uses space like measuring climate change, identifying pollution on land and at sea, supporting agriculture etc. The other events include competitions like “Space Quiz” and “Rangoli” for science students of various undergraduate classes. In Space Quiz competition, first prize is bagged by Dhriti Gupta of BSc 2nd year while second prize is shared by two students Muskaan Dhir and Muskaan of of BSc 3rd year. The third prize won by Namya Jain of BSc 3rd year. In Rangoli competition 1st prize is bagged by Anjali & Ishpreet of BSc 3rd year, second prize is given to Prachi & Diksha of BSc 3rd while 3rd prize is given to Sonam & Shriya of BSc 1st(Non med) and Manmeet & Pallavi of BSc 3rd (Med). Principal Dr. (Mrs) Mukti Gill distributed prizes and certificates to the winners.
FUN AND FROLIC MARK FRESHERS PARTY AT KCW
Freshers party is the moment when all the seniors whole heartedly and joyfully welcome their juniors. Fun, frolic and rejuvenation marked the Freshers party organized by the departments of Computer Science and Business Management at Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana. The mesmerizing music, songs, flash freezing lights and the exuberant students were the defining moments in the party.
The show was a blend of cultural items and foot tapping performances. The gala event of the day “Ramp Modeling” by the students of First year was judged by Ms. Ritu Ahuja, Dr. Prabhleen Toor and Dr Reema Sharma. The results of the same are: Miss Fresher (Dept. of Computer Science) – Prapti Sahnan, First Runner up -Diksha, Second Runner up-Gursimar Kaur, Miss Fresher (Dept. of Business Management) – Divyanshi Taneja, First Runner up- Mishika Arora and Second Runner up-Kashish.
The Principal of the college, applauded the efforts of the students and teachers in putting up such a colorful show. Dr Iqbal Kaur (Head, Dept of Punjabi),worthy guest of the day, graced the occasion with her presence.
History department of KCW celebrated India at@75
The Post graduate Department of History of Khalsa College for women civil lines Ludhiana celebrated India’s glorious achievements after Independence by showcasing India @ 75 -the changing landscape of India by displaying models on various topics like space and missile advancement, war victories ,green revolution ,white revolution, industrial development ,medicinal development in India atomic power and the development in power sector Dr. Rupinderjeet Cheema from the Department of zoology and Mrs. Nitika of Economics department were the judges for the event .There were eight teams in total comprising of four participants each. Consolation prize was won by the team of BA first -Tanya ,Madhavi, Harmanjot and Prabhjot were part of this team .The team on the topic green Revolution stood third from BA lI Anjali ,Supriya Jyoti ,Shalini were part of this team . The second prize went to the team of BAII including Harpreet ,Simrat Gungun and Navjot. First prize was shared by both the teams from BA III Chanpreet, Shubhi ,Priya and Aarti presented their model on space power and missile advancement in India while Sandhya ,Teesha ,Heena and Khushi reflected their ideas on the glorious War victories of India.Principal Dr. Mrs. Mukti GILL also graced the occasion .She lauded the efforts of the history department and said that government of India’s initiative to celebrate the 75 years of independence of India as Aazaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav is indeed a commendable effort which encourages the students to pay tribute to the people instrumental in bringing India this far in its journey in the spirit of Aatm Nirbhar Bharat.
BLOOD DONATION CAMP
Youth Red Cross Unit, NCC, NSS, Red Ribbon Club and Youth club of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized blood donation camp on 01.10.2022 in association with Akhil Bhartiya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad and Satyam Hospital Blood Centre. Dr. sunil and team came for blood collection. As many as 44 students had volunteered for donating blood. Certificate, medal and Refreshment was given to each donor as token of gratitude.
“DONATE BLOOD SAVE LIVES “ AWARENESS DRIVE BY RED RIBBON CLUB [KCW]
On 30 September 2022 an awareness on blood donation was organized by the red ribbon club. Students participated and prepared poem recitation and slogans to spread awareness on the theme
“DONATE BLOOD, SAVE LIVES”. They disseminated information on the importance of the donation of blood. Nearly 60 students and 5 teachers participated in the event organized in the morning assembly at KCW.
Aadree and Preksha recited a beautiful poem. “ YOU GOT A HEART, YOU GOT A SOUL, BELIEVE YOURSELF THAT YOU WILL USE THEM BOTH, DONATE BLOOD SAVE LIVES”.
The in charge of the club Ms. Sheetal Soi [ Head of office management department] was appreciated for their initiative by the principal and management of the college.
KCW Girls outshine in M.Sc. (Maths) Sem II Result
Students of Khalsa College For Girls, Civil Lines, Ludhiana once again came up with an outstanding performance in M.Sc.(Maths) Sem-II examination conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh. In the results declared on Sept. 28, 2022, Khushbu Goyal bagged the second University position and first position in College with 85.2% marks, also Aishwarya Garg and Anmol Khurana got second and third position in college. Management congratulated the Principal, staff & students for their outstanding performance and for maintaining the legacy.
KCW CELEBRATES “WORLD TOURISM DAY”
World Tourism Day 2022 under the theme “Rethinking Tourism” was celebrated by the Dept of Business Management of Khalsa College for Women, by organizing a PowerPoint presentation competition for the students of the Add-on course of tourism and travel management. The topics for the presentations were – “ Destination Marketing”, “Tourism and Rural Development”, Supporting jobs and economies through travel and tourism, tourism and inclusive growth, Preserving world heritage for the new millennium, Entrepreneurship in tourism management, etc. Dr. Prabhleen Toor from the Dept of English and Dr. Paramjeet Kaur from the Dept of Commerce were the judges for the event.
The first prize was bagged by the team of Shreepavani and Kashish Malhotra, the second prize went to Muskan Narula and Riya Sharma and the third position went to the team of Pragya and Nandika Bhandari
Dr. Mukti Gill, Principal of the college emphasized the need for trust and teamwork in travel and tourism to make it a strong sector of the economy. She congratulated the prize winners and applauded the efforts of the department in organizing this function.
