FIGHTING THE HIDDEN FEARS AND CONQUERING STAGE PHOBIA

The Counseling Cell of Khalsa College for Women organized an enlightening and informative workshop on Ways to Conquer Stage Phobia.

The volunteers of Psychology Department of the college had identified the students who could benefit the most from this innovative program .These students were invited for a workshop where a trained psychologist, Miss Vaishali Chopra shared the psychological principles in combating this debilitating problem. She stuck a strong rapport with the participants through group therapy and elaborated upon various techniques like rational thinking, appraisal technique and creative visualization which could be used to overcome the inner fears and develop a confident personality.

The Principal Dr. (Mrs) Mukti Gill inaugurated the workshop by releasing a brochure containing descriptive information about strategies to conquer stage phobia. Later the student volunteers from the department of psychology distributed the leaflets throughout the college in order to enlighten the students and empower them with adequate soft skills for a fully functioning personality.

The principal applauded the efforts put in by the dynamic and enterprising counseling cell of the College and the department of Psychology for always being on the forefront in taking care of the psychological needs of the students.

KCW Students achieved positions in MA – IVth semester

The students of Khalsa College for women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana have achieved outstanding results in MA IVth semester results of which were declared by Panjab University on 30th august, 2017. Two students of the college have placed her name in 10 University positions.  Manpreet 2nd position by scoring 1442/1600 (90.1%), Richa bagged V Position by scoring 1400/1600(87.5%) marks.

All the students who had appeared in the examination have secured more than 70% marks. The prestigious managing committee congratulates madam Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill and the staff of the Fine Arts Departments for their sincere efforts in generating excellent results. They applauded the students for maintaining the tradition of the college in clinching university positions & also wished them luck to scale greater heights in life.

KCW ORGANISES CORPORATE THEATRE WORKSHOP

Post Graduate department of commerce organised “Corporate Theatre Workshop” on August 31, 2017. Mr. Sufi Dev Vohra, Assistant Professor/Trainer, Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar interacted with the students on inter-personal skills, dynamic leadership and entrepreneurial skills, role playing and other innovative strategies. Students were taught management lessons through interesting and meaningful audio-visual management games. The workshop also focussed on confidence building, effective management in all spheres of life, how to increase concentration and how to live a career committed life. Students were also told about the kickstarter website where they can get the help to start their venture. The seminar was attended by around 450 students of UG and PG classes. The students enjoyed the high energy interactive session. Principal of the college Dr. Mukti Gill appreciated the efforts of the department and said the basic aim of organising such workshops is to enlighten the students with the new ways of enriching and enhancing their communication skills.

KCW Girls Outshine in M.Sc. Math IInd sem Result

Proving their mettle once again, students of Mathematics Department of KCW, Civil Lines, Ludhiana aced the examination of M.Sc. Math II semester, conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh. In record breaking success, Jatinder Kaur bagged first position in college by securing above 90% marks. Shivani and Reshanshu Goyal stood second and third in college by securing 88.4% and 86,2% respectively. 20 students got distiction and out of 52 students who appeared, 41 students passed with first division. Success of these students also inspired the other students to achieve the higher standard of academic excellence attained by the students. Principal Dr Mrs Mukti Gill also congratulted the students for their commendable success and also lauded the efforts put in by the staff.

KCW organised Industrial Visit to Hero Cycles Ltd. Ludhiana

Post Graduate Department of Commerce, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organised an industrial visit to production facility of the world largest manufacturer of Cycle i.e. “Hero Cycles Ltd Ludhiana, on September 1, 2017. Forty- five students of B.com III accompanied by two faculty members visited the manufacturing plant of bicycles. The objective of the visit was to give industry exposure to students as a part of their course curriculum. Mr. Awasthi Sethi (General Manager) and Mr. Anil Jain ( HR manager) made the students acquaint with the basics of production. Students practically experienced the concepts of Plant Layout, production , assembly line , quality checks and dispatch units at Hero Cycle. The officials of company told students that how Hero Cycle became largest manufacturer of Cycles in India. It was an enriching learning experience for the students to visit one of the dynamic organisations in the global cycle industry and get knowledge of the operations of the organisations. The students thanked the department and the college for giving them the opportunity to widen their practical corporate knowledge which complements their curriculum

‘SWACHHTA PAKHWADA’ DRIVE AT KCW

Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana Initiated a cleanliness drive ‘SWACHHTA PAKHWADA’ (1st to 15th Sept, 2017) for spreading the message of cleanliness among the students and in the surrounding areas as per the directions given by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The drive is headed by the cleanliness club of the college.

As per the day-wise action plan for ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ clean campus day was celebrated in the college. The students delivered speeches about the virtues of sanitation, health and hygiene and were also apprised of the cleanliness drive to be held in the college. The students under the stewardship of Mrs. Kanwaljit kaur Punjabi Deptt. Celebrated the clean campus day while cleaning every nook and corner of the campus.

The Principal Dr. Mukti Gill inaugurated the drive and encourage the students to create the environment-friendly abode for the individual, the family, the community and the society as a whole. She urged the students to keep the surroundings cleaner and greener for a happy and healthy life. She further made an appeal to the student community to contribute to the ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ drive and help the government in achieving the initiatve of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.

Two Day Theatre Workshop at KCW

Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized a two day theatre workshop on 2nd and 3rd August, 2017 to enhance theatrical skills, appreciating the imaginative instincts and acts of talented students. The eminent personalities of theatre Mr. Amit Sharma, Mr. Rajesh Khurana, Dr. Amandeep Singh and Kumar Ajay, Who are associated with theatre and Punjabi Films, were the resource persons. They talked about the theatrical skills like creative observation, Body movements, Voice/Speech Modulation, Gestures and Postures and Character Building through enactment. The students enthusiastically participated in this workshop. They emphasized that sometimes a persons has to play the smallest role in the smallest production house and still can create a big impact. The Managing Committee and the Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill congratulated the theatrical team for organising this informative workshop theatre that enhances the theatrical skills of the students.

TRAFFIC MARSHALLS TRAINED AT K.C.W

Traffic Marshalls Training activity for Traffic Club members was organized at Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ldh. Mr. Jasvir Singh (HC) and Mr. Gurpreet Singh, Representative of Education Cell of Traffic Police Department acquainted students with the major Traffic rules and regulations. Besides this, they also awared them about the significance of traffic signs. They trained the students to act as traffic marshalls for smooth movement of traffic outside the college campus to avoid traffic jams and road accidents.
Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill appreciated the efforts made by the traffic club members to inculcate the traffic sense among the students and motivated them to be a part of such programs in the near future.

Lecture on “Changing Paradigms of Business” held at KCW

The Depts. of Business Management and Commerce, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organised a guest lecture on “Changing Paradigms of Business in the changing Business Environment” today in which Prof Bhupinder Bhardwaj from South Thames College, London enlightened the students on how fast the business environment is changing both at the national and International levels and discussed with them the changing strategies needed to meet this dynamism. The resource person gave insights to the students on the need for shift from 4P’s to 7P’s and the role of 5 W’s in business settings. He also discussed in detail the shift from PEST to PESTEL analysis in the business environment and the importance of the factors of legal and environmental understanding in the present context. Citing case studies of Indian and International companies he also highlighted the difference in strategies and concerns of working in a global business environment. He also shared the impact of Exit of Britain on business the world over and how America worked out a strategy to muster control over the European Union also.

Dr (Mrs) Mukti Gill, Principal of the college applauded the efforts of the Dept of Business Management in inviting such a dynamic dignitary and making him interact with the students’ inorder to wider their horizon to the subject. She also guided the students to keep in mind the steps he had suggested to make business effective and become smart CEO’s of tomorrow.

Inter Class Painting Competition at KCW

On 4 th August, 2017 Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized the Inter class competition in various categories allied like still life Cartooning, collage making, landscape, clay Modeling, Rangoli, Poster Making, Photography, Best Out of Waste etc. Where in the students of the fine arts exhilaratively participated in the competition which was held in the collage premises at 10:00am. It was a pulkit given to the students to evidence and expose their shadowy creative skills. “ARTS IS NEVER FINISHED, ONLY ABANDONED” the principal acknowledges with motivation saying and encouraged the students to participate in the more such competition to inherent their talent. Therefore the competition was concluded by giving away the prizes to the winners & runner’s up of the competition.
