College Organised yoga Classes to “To Imbibe Yoga for a Healthy Life “.

Since ancient times, yoga is a cultural heritage of India. It has been practiced from several thousand years in India, as it deals with physical, mental, emotional, spiritual well being and co-ordination of body and mind.

With the aim of initiating a step towards social and mental development, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized a mega event to celebrate ‘International Yoga Day’ in the college campus with the co-ordination of 3Pb Girls Bn NCC Ludhiana. College principal Dr. (Mrs) Mukti Gill and Commanding Officer of 3 Pb. Girls Bn NCC, Col. Sandeep Bhatia joined hands to celebrate the International Yoga event in the college campus on 21st June 2017. Administrative Officer 3 Pb. Girls Bn NCC, Capt. Akankasha and members of PI Staff alongwith a massive strength of 1003 cadets from 14 different institutions assembled in the college ground early  morning to perform the yoga asanas from 7:00 am to 7:35 am.

College principal Dr. (Mrs) Mukti Gill, cadets and staff members performed various asanas in college ground to spread awareness on the philosophy of Yoga amongst young blood. The cadets practiced various asanas such as Vajra asana, Taada asana, Bhujanga asana, Tricona asana, Ardhchakra asana, Bhadra asana, Ushtra asana, Makra asana, Shava asana, Sarvaang asana and many more. The event ignited the flame of Yoga in the heart of cadets, staff and many others. College Principal appreciated the efforts of NCC Department. The event proved to be successful in spreading the idea of fitness and awareness for good health amongst upcoming generation.

Department of Home Science Organised One Week Summer Camp of Cooking.

Cookery Hut Summer Workshop  concludes at Khalsa College For Women, Civil lines, Ludhiana

A seven days Summer Workshop “COOKERY HUT” was organized by the Department of Home Science from 1st June to 7th June, 2017 at Khalsa College For Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana. It included Salads, Mocktails, Starters and Desserts. Students and teachers attended this summer workshop and all of them enjoyed it. The workshop was fun, creative and they all learned something new every day. The budding cook masters Ms. Nikita Jain, Ms. Ritika Jain, Ms. Kritika Jain of KCW organized and executed the wokshop in variable shades and flavours. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill applauded the efforts made by the staff and the students and asked them to organize more such workshops in future.

 

 

Department of English Organised workshop for Learning French Language.

A workshop of ‘French Hobby Classes’ was conducted by the Department of English at Khalsa College for Women, Civil lines, Ludhiana which aimed at teaching the students the basics of French language. Concluding today, the workshop witnessed the students participating enthusiastically. A graduate in French and presently persuing her Bachelor’s of Commerce, Sanchi Jain is a student of K.C.W who volunteered to preen her inmates for better future prospects. Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill had a word with the students and motivated them to further upgrade their French skills as French in the present scenario is not just a fashion statement but also a gateway to connect with people around the world. The workshop was a preliminary focussed on teaching commonly used words in French like greetings, counting, days of the week and so on. This workshop proved very beneficial for the students.

Department of Commerce organised Workshop to Develop Computer Skills of Students.

7 DAYS NATIONAL WORKSHOP CONCLUDED AT KCW

A 7 day National Workshop on research methodology ‘Techniques of writing research paper: Application of Statistical Tools’ was organized by Post Graduate Department of Commerce, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana in collaboration with Association for Research and Advanced Studies (ARAS) from 29th May to 4th June 2017. The objective of this workshop was to equip faculty and research scholars with various statistical tools and application of relevant software which will help them in thesis and research paper writing.

The resource person for the workshop was Dr. Ajay Kumar Chauhan, (Assistant Professor in the area of Finance, IMT Ghaziabad) who is a well-known trainer of quantitative research methods and has conducted more than 100 workshops on financial econometrics and business research methods. The well organized and stimulating seven day workshop included sessions which gave the participants clear insights regarding SPSS, AMOS, PLS software. The statistical tools and techniques covered under the workshop included MDS analytics, Conjoint analysis, AHP, CFA, SEM, Logistics Models and Factor Analysis. He demonstrated all the techniques in very lucid and clear manner which was followed and practiced simultaneously by all the participants on their laptops.

The other resource person for the workshop was Dr. Tejinder Pal Singh, Assistant Professor, University Business School, PU, Chandigarh. He sensitized the participants on issues related to Plagiarism and the use of reference manager by providing hands-on training on ‘Mendeley’.

The workshop was attended by around fifty five participants from reputed academic institutions from all over the country. The workshop concluded with the valedictory session where participants were felicitated with the certificates of participation. They expressed their gratitude towards the institute for organizing such innovative workshop. Dr (Mrs) Mukti Gill (Principal, Khalsa College for Women) appreciated the efforts of Dr Mohd Saleem Farooqi (president, ARAS), their team members and faculty members of department of commercefor organizing such insightful workshop which provided experience to the participants about various tools and techniques that they can utilize in their potential research areas.

 

 

 

 

Department of Computer Science Organised Computer Literacy Program for School Children.

As part of its Institutional social responsibility, the Department of Computer Science of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized ‘E-Vidya: A Computer Literacy Program’ for the school children. The two weeks intensive program, which commenced on      1st June, 2017 concluded today. Fifty students with modest background from different schools were enrolled for the training which was provided free of cost. With an objective to spread computer literacy, the program aimed at empowering these children by making them learn how to operate a computer and learn the basic computer skills and tools.

A unique aspect of the programme was that the training was imparted to the young girls and boys by the post graduate students of the department under the guidance of the faculty of Department of Computer Science. The idea behind this was to make the students embrace the values of serving the society in the early years of their life and foster their identities as engaged citizens.

The school students enthusiastically participated in the training. Training was imparted in MS Word and MS PowerPoint. They were also taught about the other basic operations to operate a computer. Certificates were distributed to the participants by the Principal, Dr (Mrs) Mukti Gill. The Principal and the College Managing Committee appreciated the social initiative undertaken by the Department of Computer Science. She called upon the students and faculty of the college to contribute towards realizing the college goal of society betterment and nation building.

 

Department of English Organised workshop on Communication Skills.

Department of English of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana Organized a workshop on ‘Skill Development’ from 5th June, 2017 to 9th June, 2017 wherein different topics were taken up by the experts to improve the communication skills. In this workshop 35 students got themselves registered and they benefitted much by this skill oriented workshop. This was an effort by the department to make the students focus on the practical aspect of language so that they can use the language fluently. The stress was laid on the reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.

Managing Committee of the College and Madam Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill applauded the efforts of the department.

Department of Fine Arts Organised ten days Painting workshop.

The three days skill development workshop was organized at Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana. In this workshop many students participated enthusiastically to enhance the skills of students in Pot painting, Fabric painting, Block painting, qulling, Clay modeling, Pebble painting etc.  This work was mainly conducted to give the practical training in these skills which will help them in establishing their career. Madam Principal Dr. Mukti Gill expressed her happiness over the successful completion of the workshop. College Lectures Ms. Jaswinder Kaur, Mrs. Sunmeet kaur, Ms. Ashu and Ms. Meenu Mahajan trained the students in this summer camp.

Department of Computer Science Organised three weeks training workshop on Website Designing and Development

An intensive three weeks training workshop on “Web Design and Development” , organized by the Department of Computer Science of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana concluded today. The workshop was organized under the Skill Development Programme of the college.  This programme has been initiated by the college to provide skill training and support to the students in order to raise their confidence, improve productivity and channelize them for proper job opportunities.

The objective of the workshop was to boost the digital skills of the students in the domain of web design and development. The workshop provided an opportunity to the students to help understand the intricacies of designing a stand out website; learn the processes involved in creating effective and responsive websites and identify the issues involved in its development and maintenance.

The students were provided practical training using the latest software tools. The students developed intriguing websites as part of the projects assigned to them during the course of the training. The training was imparted by the faculty of the Department of Computer Science.

The College Managing Committee and the Principal, Dr. (Mrs) Mukti Gill appreciated the faculty of Department of Computer Science in helping the students update their skills by organizing the workshop. She congratulated the students on successful completion of the training and urged them to further improve their skills by attending such workshops to have an edge in the highly competitive job market.
