“9th International Day of Women and Girls in Science 2024” is celebrated by the department of physics at Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, on February 10 ,2024.The purpose of the celebration is to spread the message that women need science and science needs women. Only by tapping into all sources of knowledge and talent can we unlock the full potential of science and overcome the challenges of our time. On this occasion, an extension lecture was organized by the department along with a poster
presentation competition. Dr. Amandeep Kaur Kalsi was the resource person. She is an
assistant professor in the department of physics at PAU. She gave an extension lecture on the
topic “Importance of Women in Science in Higher Education: A Regional Perspective.” In
the “Intra-College Poster Presentation Competition on the theme of “Women and girls
in science leadership: a new era of sustainability,” students of various streams participated
with great zeal and enthusiasm. The poster presentation on International Women’s Day in
2024 and beyond aims to inspire inclusion. We develop a better society when we encourage
others to recognize and cherish the inclusion of women. In the poster presentation
competition, the first prize is shared by two students, Sneha Mehta and Sakshi of BCA-II and
Msc IT, respectively, while the second prize goes to Tamanpreet of BCA-II. The third prize is
Prisha Bsc.-II year, while the consolation prize is given to Mehak and Sita from Bsc.-III
medical and Bsc.-II medical. Director Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill and Principal Dr.(Mrs.) Iqbal
Kaur distributed certificates, prizes to the winners and applaud their efforts.
