Documentary “A Great Escape” showcased at Khalsa College For Women

The English Department of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana
showcased a documentary “A Great Escape” to the Functional English students of
the Department. The documentary tells the real life story of Sushmita Banerjee who
managed to escape from Afghanistan under life threatening circumstances exhibiting
courage. The initiative was taken to help the students of T.V Journalism to carry out
their documentary projects. The objective was to educate students on the nuances of
documentary production techniques. They were also informed about how they can
explore an idea while keeping it small and investigating it deeply. A brainstorming
session was conducted after the documentary where the students shared their
perspectives to the narrative and characters. There was exchange of knowledge on
the existing cultural settings, belief system and conflicting ideologies across nations.
College Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur appreciated the efforts of the department while
encouraging the students to gain through practical aspects of learning.
