Department of Economics of Khalsa College for women, civil lines Ludhiana in collaboration with Career Coaching Cell organized a student visit to Punjab & Sind Bank Ludhiana on August 29, 2017. As many as 50 students from B.A. II & III of Economics visited the bank. The visit was organized to give the students an insight into the various banking concepts, systems and banking operations. Students interacted with the employees and got to know the fine nuances about the functioning of the bank. The Assistant Manager of the bank Mrs. Reenu Rai explained their job profile and duties as a manager also the sensitized the students about e-KYC, internet banking, RTGS, NEFT and gave practical knowledge about how to open a bank account. Ms. Rajinder kaur interacted with the students and answered their queries related to various banking activities like different type of vouchers, interest rate of different schemes; loan procedures etc. Manager of the bank S. Jaspal Singh Jolly made the students aware about various career avenues & opportunities available in the banking sector. It was quiet a learning experience for the students as they acquired the firsthand knowledge about how a bank operates. College principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill applauded the efforts of the department and emphasized banking as a fine career option for the students and also that in the current era of digitization it is vital for the students to have a working knowledge about the use of various banking services.
