Legal Literacy Cell

This cell is committed to educate citizens about their legal rights. Various activities are carried out to spread awareness about legal rights and free legal services provided by PSLA (Punjab State Legal Authority).

A campaign – Justice for All was carried out by the legal literacy cell to spread awareness about the legal rights and the free legal services provided by PLSA (Punjab Legal Service Authority) to weaker sections of the society. A workshop on moral values was conducted on Aug. 28, 2014. Mr. Hardeep Brar, founder of Mahida Organization interacted with the students and motivated them to work for the betterment of society.

Year Activities
2021-22 Under the able guidance of Dr. Khushdip Kaur, the members of the Club marked Human Rights Day by organising an awareness drive regarding significance of Human Rights.
The message of “Achieving Social Justice Through Formal Employment” was spread by circulating a thought provoking PPT among students on the World Day of Social Justice. (20th February, 2022).
An Inter departmental skit competition created awareness regarding legal guides in Civil Disputes. Themes as sexual harassment at work place, Role of meditation centre in Matrimonial Disputes, Domestic Violence etc. were enacted effectively.
2022-23 Organized Extension Lecture “Old age a curse! Enabling Laws to protect this vulnerable group” by Dr. Neelam Batra (Associate Professor, UIL, PURC, Ludhiana) on 11.11.2022 to discuss ” Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizen Act 2007″.
Organized Awareness Drive using PowerPoint presentations on 08-02-2023 to enlighten the college students about the sensitive issues of sexual harassment and domestic violence.
Organized a One-week Awareness Campaign on Legal Aid Information from 08-03-2023 to 15-03-2023 by distributing informative Brochures to spread awareness among Women in various sectors about sexual harassment, domestic violence, etc.
2023-24 Organised poster making and slogan writing competition on 12th August 2023 on the theme ‘Say Yes To Joyful and Ragging Free Campus’ in collaboration with the anti ragging cell of the college to observe the anti ragging week. Continuing the observation of anti ragging week, a special assembly was organised on 16th August 2023 where Ms. Tulika, President, LLC, shared ways of curbing the menace of ragging through a powerpoint presentation and making the campus ragging-free.
On 24th January, 2024, an explanatory session by Dr. Suriti Sachdeva, took place on the theme, “Social and Behavior Change Communication Programme for Domestic Violence against Women”.
An impactful interactive Session, “Journey of a SuperWoman” was organised with Mx. Dhananjay Chauhan, the first Transgender student of Panjab University, on 3rd February, 2024 in collaboration with the Student Council of the College.
“Breaking the Silence : Understanding and Addressing Incest Abuse” was organized on 19th March, 2024. Resource Person, Dr Neelam Batra, Assistant Professor, University Institute of Laws, stressed upon understanding and recognizing the symptoms and signs of incest Abuse, referring to various sections of Indian Penal Code.
