World Mental Health Day Awareness Drive and Inter-School Poster making Competition

A community mental health drive was organized by Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana to mark the World Mental Health Day. KCW Counselling Cell organized a Seminar titled “Promoting Awareness and Well-Being” while an Inter-School Poster making Competition was organized by the Department of Psychology. In this event, psychology students and their teachers from around eight city schools took part. This event aimed to raise awareness of mental health issues and empower students to navigate daily life challenges and stress.

The seminar featured Ms. Aayushi Jain, an RCI Licensed Clinical Psychologist, who discussed various mental health problems and offered practical advice for integrating positive mental health practices into everyday life. The goal was to educate students about positive mental health and encourage them to become ambassadors of change, enabling them to support themselves and others in addressing the mental health challenges faced by today’s youth.

 Additionally, the Department of Psychology hosted an Inter-School Poster Making Competition with the theme, #Movement: Moving More for Our Mental Health. Thirty-nine students from eight local schools participated by creating informative posters highlighting different aspects of mental health.

The results were as follows:

2nd – Tavleen Kaur Grover – Bal Bharati Public School 

Bracketed 3rd – Jasleen Kaur & Kamalnoor Kaur Chana from Guru Nanak International Public School

Artistic Excellence Prize – Kaysha Jain – Jesus Sacred Heart School

Conceptual Excellence Prize – Pahulpreet Kaur Sond – Bal Bharati Public School Ludhiana

Exceptional Symbolism Prize- Deep Kaur Lyall from Guru Nanak Public School, Kashish from Shifaly International School and Zaina Arora from Sacred Heart Convent School.

Dr. Kamaljit Grewal, Principal of Khalsa College for Women, presented the awards. She applauded the participants’ enthusiasm aimed at both personal and social growth. The Department of Psychology and the Counselling Cell were also appreciated for their active efforts in raising awareness of mental health issues for the benefit of the community.
